Numbers 11
NASB 1995 + Strong's

1Now the peoplebecamelike those who complainof adversityin the hearingof the LORD;and when the LORDheard[it], His angerwas kindled, and the fireof the LORDburnedamong them and consumed[some] of the outskirtsof the camp.2The peopletherefore criedout to Moses, and Mosesprayedto the LORDand the firediedout.3So the nameof that placewas calledTaberah, becausethe fireof the LORDburnedamong them.

4The rabblewhowere amongthem hadgreedydesires;and alsothe sonsof Israelweptagainand said,"Whowill give us meatto eat?5"We rememberthe fishwhichwe used to eatfreein Egypt, the cucumbersand the melonsand the leeksand the onionsand the garlic,6but nowour appetiteis gone.Thereis nothingat allto lookat exceptthis manna."

7Now the mannawas like corianderseed, and its appearancelike that of bdellium.8The peoplewould goaboutand gather[it] and grind[it] between two millstonesorbeat[it] in the mortar, and boil[it] in the potand makecakeswith it; and its tastewas as the tasteof cakesbakedwith oil.9When the dewfellon the campat night, the mannawould fallwith it.

10Now Mosesheardthe peopleweepingthroughout their families, eachmanat the doorwayof his tent;and the angerof the LORDwas kindledgreatly, and Moseswas displeased.11So Mosessaidto the LORD,"Whyhave You been so hardon Your servant? And whyhave I not foundfavorin Your sight, that You have laidthe burdenof allthispeopleon me?12"Was it I who conceivedallthispeople? Was it I who broughtthem forth, that You should sayto me, 'Carrythem in your bosomas a nursecarriesa nursinginfant,to the landwhichYou sworeto their fathers'?13"Wheream I to get meatto giveto allthispeople? For they weepbeforeme, saying,'Giveus meatthat we may eat!'14"I aloneam not ableto carryallthispeople, becauseit is tooburdensomefor me.15"So ifYou are going to dealthuswith me, pleasekillme at once,ifI have foundfavorin Your sight, and do not let me seemy wretchedness."

16The LORDtherefore saidto Moses,"Gatherfor Me seventymenfrom the eldersof Israel, whomyou knowto be the eldersof the peopleand their officersand bringthem to the tentof meeting, and let them taketheir standtherewith you.17"Then I will comedownand speakwith you there, and I will takeof the Spiritwhois upon you, and will put[Him] upon them; and they shall bearthe burdenof the peoplewith you, so that you will not bear[it] all alone.18"Sayto the people,Consecrateyourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eatmeat;for you have weptin the earsof the LORD,saying,"Ohthat someonewould give us meatto eat!For we were well-offin Egypt."Therefore the LORDwill giveyou meatand you shall eat.19You shall eat,not oneday, nortwo days,norfivedays,nortendays,nortwentydays,20but a wholemonth, untilit comesout of your nostrilsand becomesloathsometo you; becauseyou have rejectedthe LORDwhois amongyou and have weptbeforeHim, saying,"Whydid we everleaveEgypt?"'"21But Mosessaid,"The people, amongwhomI am, are 600,000on foot;yet You have said,'I will givethem meat,so that they may eatfor a wholemonth.'22"Should flocksand herdsbe slaughteredfor them, to be sufficientfor them? Orshould allthe fishof the seabe gatheredtogether for them, to be sufficientfor them?"23The LORDsaidto Moses,"Is the LORD'Spowerlimited?Nowyou shall seewhether My wordwill cometrue~for you ornot."

24So Moseswentout and toldthe peoplethe wordsof the LORD.Also, he gatheredseventymenof the eldersof the people, and stationedthem aroundthe tent.25Then the LORDcamedownin the cloudand spoketo him; and He tookof the Spiritwhowas upon him and placed[Him] upon the seventyelders. And when the Spiritrestedupon them, they prophesied. But they did not do[it] again.

26But twomenhad remainedin the camp;the nameof onewas Eldadand the nameof the otherMedad. And the Spiritrestedupon them (now they were among those who had been registered, but had not goneout to the tent),and they prophesiedin the camp.27So a youngmanranand toldMosesand said,"Eldadand Medadare prophesyingin the camp."28Then Joshuathe sonof Nun,the attendantof Mosesfrom his youth, said,"Moses,my lord,restrainthem."29But Mosessaidto him, "Are you jealousfor my sake? Wouldthat allthe LORD'Speoplewere prophets, that the LORDwould putHis Spiritupon them!"30Then Mosesreturnedto the camp,[both] he and the eldersof Israel.

31Now there wentfortha windfrom the LORDand it broughtquailfrom the sea,and let [them] fallbesidethe camp, about a day'sjourneyon thissideand a day'sjourneyon the otherside, allaroundthe campand about two cubits[deep] on the surfaceof the ground.32The peoplespentalldayand allnightand allthe nextday, and gatheredthe quail(he who gathered leastgatheredtenhomers)and they spread[them] out for themselves allaroundthe camp.33While the meatwas stillbetweentheir teeth, beforeit was chewed, the angerof the LORDwas kindledagainst the people, and the LORDstruckthe peoplewith a verysevereplague.34So the nameof that placewas calledKibroth-hattaavah,becausetherethey buriedthe peoplewho had beengreedy.35From Kibroth-hattaavahthe peoplesetout for Hazeroth, and they remainedat Hazeroth.
