1When the Sabbathwas over,MaryMagdalene,and Marythe [mother] of James,and Salome,boughtspices,sothat they might comeand anointHim.2Veryearlyon the firstday of the week,they cameto the tombwhen the sunhad risen.3They were sayingto one another,"Whowill roll awaythe stonefor us from the entranceof the tomb?"4Lookingup, they sawthat the stonehad been rolled away,althoughit was extremelylarge.5Enteringthe tomb,they sawa young mansittingat the right,wearinga whiterobe;and they were amazed.6And he saidto them, "Do not be amazed;you are lookingfor Jesusthe Nazarene,who has been crucified.He has risen;He is not here;behold,[here is] the placewherethey laidHim.7"But go,tellHis disciplesand Peter,He is going aheadof you to Galilee;thereyou will seeHim, justas He toldyou.'"8They wentout and fledfrom the tomb,for tremblingand astonishmenthad grippedthem; and they saidnothingto anyone,for they were afraid.
9[Nowafter He had risenearlyon the firstday of the week,He firstappearedto MaryMagdalene,from whomHe had castout sevendemons.10She wentand reportedto thosewho had beenwith Him, while they were mourningand weeping.11When they heardthat He was aliveand had been seenby her, they refused to believeit.
12Afterthat, He appearedin a differentformto twoof them while they were walkingalong on their wayto the country.13They went awayand reportedit to the others,but they did not believethem either.
14AfterwardHe appearedto the eleventhemselvesas they were reclining[at the table]; and He reproachedthem for their unbeliefand hardness of heart,becausethey had not believedthosewho had seenHim after He had risen.15And He saidto them, "Gointo allthe worldand preachthe gospelto allcreation.16"He who has believedand has been baptizedshall be saved;but he who has disbelievedshall be condemned.17"Thesesignswill accompanythosewho have believed:in My namethey will castout demons,they will speakwith newtongues;18they will pickup serpents,and ifthey drinkanydeadly[poison], it will not hurtthem; they will layhandson the sick,and they will recover."
19So then,when the LordJesushad spokento them, He was receivedup into heavenand sat downat the right handof God.20And they wentout and preachedeverywhere,while the Lordworkedwith them, and confirmedthe wordby the signsthat followed]. And afterthat, Jesus Himself sent out through them from east to west the sacred and imperishable proclamation of eternal salvation].]
