1Now it cameabout afterthesethings,that GodtestedAbraham,and saidto him, "Abraham!"And he said,"HereI am."2He said,"Takenowyour son,your onlyson, whomyou love,Isaac,and goto the landof Moriah,and offerhim thereas a burntofferingon oneof the mountainsof whichI will tellyou."3So Abrahamroseearlyin the morningand saddledhis donkey,and tooktwoof his youngmenwith him and Isaachis son;and he splitwoodfor the burntoffering,and aroseand wentto the placeof whichGodhad toldhim.4On the thirddayAbrahamraisedhis eyesand sawthe placefrom a distance.5Abrahamsaidto his youngmen,"Stayherewith the donkey,and I and the ladwill gooverthere;and we will worshipand returnto you."6Abrahamtookthe woodof the burntofferingand laidit on Isaachis son,and he tookin his handthe fireand the knife.So the twoof them walkedon together.7Isaacspoketo Abrahamhis fatherand said,"My father!"And he said,"HereI am, my son."And he said,"Behold,the fireand the wood,but whereis the lambfor the burntoffering?"8Abrahamsaid,"Godwill providefor Himself the lambfor the burntoffering,my son."So the twoof them walkedon together.
9Then they cameto the placeof whichGodhad toldhim; and Abrahambuiltthe altarthereand arrangedthe wood,and boundhis sonIsaacand laidhim on the altar,on topof the wood.10Abrahamstretchedout his handand tookthe knifeto slayhis son.11But the angelof the LORDcalledto him from heavenand said,"Abraham,Abraham!"And he said,"HereI am."12He said,"Do not stretchout your handagainstthe lad,and donothingto him; for nowI knowthat you fearGod,since you have not withheldyour son,your onlyson, from Me."13Then Abrahamraisedhis eyesand looked,and behold,behind[him] a ramcaughtin the thicketby his horns;and Abrahamwentand tookthe ramand offeredhim up for a burntofferingin the placeof his son.14Abrahamcalledthe nameof that placeThe LORDWill Provide,as it is saidto this day,"In the mountof the LORDit will be provided."
15Then the angelof the LORDcalledto Abrahama secondtimefrom heaven,16and said,"By Myself I have sworn,declaresthe LORD,becauseyou have donethisthingand have not withheldyour son,your onlyson,17indeedI will greatlyblessyou, and I will greatlymultiplyyour seedas the starsof the heavensand as the sandwhichis on the seashore;and your seedshall possessthe gateof their enemies.18"In your seedallthe nationsof the earthshall be blessed,becauseyou have obeyedMy voice."19So Abrahamreturnedto his youngmen,and they aroseand wenttogetherto Beersheba;and Abrahamlivedat Beersheba.
20Now it cameabout afterthesethings,that it was toldAbraham,saying,"Behold,Milcahalsohas bornechildrento your brotherNahor:21Uzhis firstbornand Buzhis brotherand Kemuelthe fatherof Aram22and Chesedand Hazoand Pildashand Jidlaphand Bethuel."23Bethuelbecamethe fatherof Rebekah;theseeightMilcahboreto Nahor,Abraham'sbrother.24His concubine,whose namewas Reumah,alsoboreTebahand Gahamand Tahashand Maacah.
