1Then Solomonbeganto buildthe houseof the LORDin Jerusalemon MountMoriah,where[the LORD] had appearedto his fatherDavid,at the placethat Davidhad preparedon the threshingfloorof Ornanthe Jebusite.2He beganto buildon the second[day] in the secondmonthof the fourthyearof his reign.
3Now theseare the foundationswhich Solomonlaidfor buildingthe houseof God.The lengthin cubits,according to the oldstandard[was] sixtycubits,and the widthtwentycubits.4The porchwhichwas in frontof the house was as longas the widthof the house,twentycubits,and the height120;and insidehe overlaidit with puregold.5He overlaidthe mainroomwith cypresswoodand overlaidit with finegold,and ornamentedit with palmtreesand chains.6Further, he adornedthe housewith preciousstones;and the goldwas goldfrom Parvaim.7He also overlaidthe housewith gold--the beams,the thresholdsand its wallsand its doors;and he carvedcherubimon the walls.
8Now he madethe roomof the holyof holies:its lengthacrossthe widthof the house[was] twentycubits,and its width[was] twentycubits;and he overlaidit with finegold,[amounting] to 600talents.9The weightof the nailswas fiftyshekelsof gold.He also overlaidthe upperroomswith gold.
10Then he madetwosculpturedcherubimin the roomof the holyof holiesand overlaidthem with gold.11The wingspanof the cherubim[was] twentycubits;the wingof one,of fivecubits,touchedthe wallof the house,and [its] otherwing,of fivecubits,touchedthe wingof the othercherub.12The wingof the othercherub,of fivecubits,touchedthe wallof the house;and [its] otherwingof fivecubitswas attachedto the wingof the firstcherub.13The wingsof thesecherubimextendedtwentycubits,and they stoodon their feetfacingthe [main] room.14He madethe veilof violet,purple,crimsonand finelinen,and he workedcherubimon it.
15He also madetwopillarsfor the frontof the house,thirty-fivecubitshigh,and the capitalon the topof each [was] fivecubits.16He madechainsin the innersanctuaryand placed[them] on the topsof the pillars;and he madeone hundredpomegranatesand placed[them] on the chains.17He erectedthe pillarsin frontof the temple,oneon the rightand the otheron the left,and namedthe one on the rightJachinand the one on the leftBoaz.
