KJV + Strong's A Call to Justice and Mercy 1And it came to pass in the fourthyearof kingDarius,[that] the wordof the LORDcame unto Zechariahin the fourth[day] of the ninthmonth,[even] in Chisleu;2When they had sentunto the houseof GodSherezerand Regemmelech,and their men,to praybeforethe LORD,3[And] to speakunto the priestswhich [were] in the houseof the LORDof hosts,and to the prophets,saying,Should I weepin the fifthmonth,separatingmyself, as I have donethese so many years?4Then came the wordof the LORDof hostsunto me, saying,5Speakunto all the peopleof the land,and to the priests,saying,When ye fastedand mournedin the fifthand seventh[month], even those seventyyears,did ye at allfastunto me, [even] to me?6And when ye did eat,and when ye did drink,did not ye eat[for yourselves], and drink[for yourselves]?7[Should ye] not [hear] the wordswhich the LORDhath criedbythe formerprophets,when Jerusalemwas inhabitedand in prosperity,and the citiesthereof round about her,when [men] inhabitedthe southand the plain? 8And the wordof the LORDcame unto Zechariah,saying,9Thus speakeththe LORDof hosts,saying,ExecuteTRUEjudgment,and shewmercyand compassionsevery manto his brother:10And oppressnot the widow,nor the fatherless,the stranger,nor the poor;and let none of you imagineevilagainsthis brotherin your heart.11But they refusedto hearken,and pulled awaythe shoulder,and stoppedtheir ears,that they should not hear.12Yea, they madetheir hearts[as] an adamant stone,lest they should hearthe law,and the wordswhich the LORDof hostshath sentin his spiritbythe formerprophets:therefore came a greatwrathfrom the LORDof hosts.13Therefore it is come to pass, [that] as he cried,and they would not hear;so they cried,and I would not hear,saiththe LORDof hosts:14But I scattered them with a whirlwindamong all the nationswhom they knewnot. Thus the landwas desolateafterthem, that no man passed throughnor returned:for they laidthe pleasantlanddesolate. |
