Behold, he winnowethbarleyto nightin the threshingfloor.3Washthyself therefore, and anointthee, and putthy raimentupon thee, and get thee downto the floor:[but] make not thyself knownunto the man,until he shall have doneeatingand drinking.4And it shall be, when he lieth down,that thou shalt markthe placewhere he shall lie,and thou shalt go in,and uncoverhis feet,and lay thee down;and he will tellthee what thou shalt do.5And she saidunto her, All that thou sayestunto me I will do. 6And she went downunto the floor,and didaccording to all that her mother in lawbadeher.7And when Boazhad eatenand drunk,and his heartwas merry,he wentto lie downat the endof the heap of corn:and she camesoftly,and uncoveredhis feet,and laid her down. And she answered,I [am] Ruththine handmaid:spreadtherefore thy skirtover thine handmaid;for thou [art] a near kinsman.10And he said,Blessed[be] thou of the LORD,my daughter:[for] thou hast shewedmore kindnessin the latter endthan at the beginning,inasmuch as thou followedstnotyoung men,whether pooror rich.11And now, my daughter,fearnot; I will doto thee all that thou requirest:for all the cityof my peopledoth knowthat thou [art] a virtuouswoman.12And now it is TRUEthat I [am thy] near kinsman:howbeit there isa kinsmannearerthan I.13Tarrythis night,and it shall be in the morning,[that] if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman,well;let him do the kinsman's part:but if he willnot do the part of a kinsmanto thee, then will I do the part of a kinsmanto thee, [as] the LORDliveth:lie downuntil the morning. 14And she layat his feetuntil the morning:and she rose upbeforeonecould knowanother.And he said,Let it not be knownthat a womancameinto the floor.15Also he said,Bringthe vailthat [thou hast] upon thee, and holdit. And when she heldit, he measuredsix[measures] of barley,and laid[it] on her: and she wentinto the city.16And when she cameto her mother in law,she said,Who [art] thou, my daughter?And she toldher all that the manhad doneto her.17And she said,These six[measures] of barleygavehe me; for he saidto me, Gonot emptyunto thy mother in law.18Then saidshe, Sit still,my daughter,until thou knowhow the matterwill fall:for the manwill not be in rest,untilhe have finishedthe thingthis day. |
