8Then saidBoazunto Ruth,Hearestthou not, my daughter?Gonot to gleanin anotherfield, neither gofrom hence, but abidehere fast by my maidens:9[Let] thine eyes[be] on the fieldthat they do reap, and gothou afterthem: have I not chargedthe young menthat they shall not touchthee? and when thou art athirst, gounto the vessels, and drinkof [that] which the young menhave drawn.10Then she fellon her face, and bowedherself to the ground, and saidunto him, Why have I foundgracein thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledgeof me, seeing I [am] a stranger?11And Boazansweredand saidunto her, It hath fullybeen shewedme, all that thou hast doneunto thy mother in lawsincethe deathof thine husband:and [how] thou hast leftthy fatherand thy mother, and the landof thy nativity, and art comeunto a peoplewhich thou knewestnot heretofore.12The LORDrecompensethy work, and a fullrewardbe given thee of the LORDGodof Israel, under whose wingsthou art cometo trust.13Then she said,Let me findfavourin thy sight,my lord;for that thou hast comfortedme, and for that thou hast spokenfriendlyunto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto oneof thine handmaidens.
14And Boazsaidunto her, At mealtimecomethou hither, and eatof the bread, and dipthy morselin the vinegar. And she satbesidethe reapers:and he reachedher parched[corn], and she did eat,and was sufficed, and left.15And when she was risen upto glean,Boazcommandedhis young men, saying,Let her gleaneven among the sheaves, and reproachher not:16And let fallalso [some] of the handfulsof purposefor her, and leave[them], that she may glean[them], and rebukeher not.
17So she gleanedin the fielduntil even, and beat outthat she had gleaned:and it was about an ephahof barley.18And she took [it] up,and wentinto the city:and her mother in lawsawwhat she had gleaned:and she brought forth, and gaveto her that she had reservedafter she was sufficed.19And her mother in lawsaidunto her, Where hast thou gleanedto day?and wherewroughtestthou? blessedbe he that did take knowledgeof thee. And she shewedher mother in lawwith whom she had wrought, and said,The man'snamewith whom I wroughtto day[is] Boaz.20And Naomisaidunto her daughter in law,Blessed[be] he of the LORD,who hath not left offhis kindnessto the livingand to the dead. And Naomisaidunto her, The man[is] near of kinunto us, one of our next kinsmen.21And Ruththe Moabitesssaid,He saidunto me also, Thou shalt keep fastby my young men, until they have endedall my harvest.22And Naomisaidunto Ruthher daughter in law,[It is] good,my daughter, that thou go outwith his maidens, that they meetthee not in any otherfield.23So she kept fastby the maidensof Boazto gleanunto the endof barleyharvestand of wheatharvest;and dweltwith her mother in law.
