The Righteous are as Bold as a Lion
1The wickedfleewhen no man pursueth:but the righteousare boldas a lion.
2For the transgressionof a landmany[are] the princesthereof: but by a manof understanding[and] knowledgethe state[thereof] shall be prolonged.
3A poormanthat oppresseththe poor[is like] a sweepingrainwhich leaveth no food.
4They that forsakethe lawpraisethe wicked:but such as keepthe lawcontendwith them.
5Evilmenunderstandnot judgment:but they that seekthe LORDunderstandall [things].
6Better[is] the poorthat walkethin his uprightness,than [he that is] perverse[in his] ways,though he [be] rich.
7Whoso keepeththe law[is] a wiseson:but he that is a companionof riotous[men] shamethhis father.
8He that by usuryand unjust gainincreasethhis substance,he shall gatherit for him that will pitythe poor.
9He that turneth awayhis earfrom hearingthe law,even his prayer[shall be] abomination.
10Whoso causeth the righteousto go astrayin an evilway,he shall fallhimself into his own pit:but the uprightshall have good[things] in possession.
11The richman[is] wisein his own conceit;but the poorthat hath understandingsearcheth him out.
12When righteous[men] do rejoice,[there is] greatglory:but when the wickedrise,a manis hidden.
13He that coverethhis sinsshall not prosper:but whoso confessethand forsaketh[them] shall have mercy.
14Happy[is] the manthat fearethalway:but he that hardenethhis heartshall fallinto mischief.
15[As] a roaringlion,and a rangingbear;[so is] a wickedrulerover the poorpeople.
16The princethat wantethunderstanding[is] also a greatoppressor:[but] he that hatethcovetousnessshall prolong[his] days.
17A manthat doeth violenceto the bloodof [any] personshall fleeto the pit;let no man stayhim.
18Whoso walkethuprightlyshall be saved:but [he that is] perverse[in his] waysshall fallat once.
19He that tillethhis landshall have plentyof bread:but he that followethafter vain[persons] shall have poverty enough.
20A faithfulmanshall aboundwith blessings:but he that maketh hasteto be richshall not be innocent.
21To have respectof persons[is] not good:for for a pieceof bread[that] manwill transgress.
22Hethat hastethto be rich[hath] an evileye,and considerethnot that povertyshall comeupon him.
23He that rebuketha manafterwardsshall findmore favourthan he that flatterethwith the tongue.
24Whoso robbethhis fatheror his mother,and saith,[It is] no transgression;the same [is] the companionof a destroyer.
25He that is of a proudheartstirreth upstrife:but he that putteth his trustin the LORDshall be made fat.
26He that trustethin his own heartis a fool:but whoso walkethwisely,he shall be delivered.
27He that givethunto the poorshall not lack:but he that hidethhis eyesshall have manya curse.
28When the wickedrise,menhidethemselves: but when they perish,the righteousincrease.
