More Proverbs of Solomon
1These [are] also proverbsof Solomon,which the menof Hezekiahkingof Judahcopied out.
2[It is] the gloryof Godto conceala thing:but the honourof kings[is] to search outa matter.
3The heavenfor height,and the earthfor depth,and the heartof kings[is] unsearchable.
4Take awaythe drossfrom the silver,and there shall come fortha vesselfor the finer.
5Take awaythe wicked[from] beforethe king,and his throneshall be establishedin righteousness.
6Put not forththyself in the presenceof the king,and standnot in the placeof great[men]:
7For better[it is] that it be saidunto thee, Come uphither; than that thou shouldest be put lowerin the presenceof the princewhom thine eyeshave seen.
8Go not forthhastilyto strive,lest [thou know not] what to doin the endthereof, when thy neighbourhath put thee to shame.
9Debatethy causewith thy neighbour[himself]; and discovernot a secretto another:
10Lest he that heareth[it] put thee to shame,and thine infamyturn not away.
11A wordfitlyspoken[is like] applesof goldin picturesof silver.
12[As] an earringof gold,and an ornamentof fine gold,[so is] a wisereproverupon an obedientear.
13As the coldof snowin the timeof harvest,[so is] a faithfulmessengerto them that sendhim: for he refresheththe soulof his masters.
14Whosoboastethhimself of a FALSEgift[is like] cloudsand windwithout rain.
15By longforbearingis a princepersuaded,and a softtonguebreakeththe bone.
16Hast thou foundhoney?eatso much as is sufficientfor thee, lest thou be filledtherewith, and vomitit.
17Withdrawthy footfrom thy neighbour'shouse;lest he be wearyof thee, and [so] hatethee.
18A manthat bearethFALSEwitnessagainst his neighbour[is] a maul,and a sword,and a sharparrow.
19Confidencein an unfaithful manin timeof trouble[is like] a brokentooth,and a footout of joint.
20[As] he that taketh awaya garmentin coldweather,[and as] vinegarupon nitre,so [is] he that singethsongsto an heavyheart.
21If thine enemybe hungry,give him breadto eat;and if he be thirsty,give him waterto drink:
22For thou shalt heapcoals of fireupon his head,and the LORDshall rewardthee.
23The northwinddriveth awayrain:so [doth] an angrycountenancea backbitingtongue.
24[It is] betterto dwellin the cornerof the housetop,than with a brawlingwomanand in a widehouse.
25[As] coldwatersto a thirstysoul,so [is] goodnewsfrom a farcountry.
26A righteousman falling downbeforethe wicked[is as] a troubledfountain,and a corruptspring.
27[It is] not goodto eatmuchhoney:so [for men] to searchtheir own glory[is not] glory.
28Hethat [hath] no ruleover his own spirit[is like] a city[that is] broken down,[and] without walls.
