The Unfriendly Pursue Selfishness
1Through desirea man, having separatedhimself, seeketh[and] intermeddlethwith all wisdom.
2A foolhath no delightin understanding,but that his heartmay discoveritself.
3When the wickedcometh,[then] comethalso contempt,and with ignominyreproach.
4The wordsof a man'smouth[are as] deepwaters,[and] the wellspringof wisdom[as] a flowingbrook.
5[It is] not goodto acceptthe personof the wicked,to overthrowthe righteousin judgment.
6A fool'slipsenterinto contention,and his mouthcallethfor strokes.
7A fool'smouth[is] his destruction,and his lips[are] the snareof his soul.
8The wordsof a talebearer[are] as wounds,and they go downinto the innermost partsof the belly.
9He also that is slothfulin his workis brotherto him that is a greatwaster.
10The nameof the LORD[is] a strongtower:the righteousrunnethinto it, and is safe.
11The rich man'swealth[is] his strongcity,and as an highwallin his own conceit.
12Beforedestructionthe heartof manis haughty,and beforehonour[is] humility.
13He that answeretha matterbefore he heareth[it], it [is] follyand shameunto him.
14The spiritof a manwill sustainhis infirmity;but a woundedspiritwho can bear?
15The heartof the prudentgettethknowledge;and the earof the wiseseekethknowledge.
16A man'sgiftmaketh roomfor him, and bringethhim beforegreat men.
17[He that is] firstin his own cause[seemeth] just;but his neighbourcometh{08675;0935:08799} and searchethhim.
18The lotcauseth contentionsto cease,and partethbetween the mighty.
19A brotheroffended[is harder to be won] than a strongcity:and [their] contentions[are] like the barsof a castle.
20A man'sbellyshall be satisfiedwith the fruitof his mouth;[and] with the increaseof his lipsshall he be filled.
21Deathand life[are] in the powerof the tongue:and they that loveit shall eatthe fruitthereof.
22[Whoso] findetha wifefindetha good[thing], and obtainethfavourof the LORD.
23The poorusethintreaties;but the richanswerethroughly.
24A man[that hath] friendsmust shew himself friendly:and there isa friend[that] sticketh closerthan a brother.
