Better a Dry Morsel with Quietness
1Better[is] a drymorsel,and quietnesstherewith, than an housefullof sacrifices[with] strife.
2A wiseservantshall have ruleover a sonthat causeth shame,and shall have partof the inheritanceamongthe brethren.
3The fining pot[is] for silver,and the furnacefor gold:but the LORDtrieththe hearts.
4A wicked doergiveth heedto FALSElips;[and] a liargiveth earto a naughtytongue.
5Whoso mockeththe poorreproachethhis Maker:[and] he that is gladat calamitiesshall not be unpunished.
6Children'schildren[are] the crownof old men;and the gloryof children[are] their fathers.
7Excellentspeechbecomethnot a fool:much less do lyinglipsa prince.
8A gift[is as] a preciousstonein the eyesof him that hathit: whithersoever it turneth,it prospereth.
9He that coveretha transgressionseekethlove;but he that repeatetha matterseparateth[very] friends.
10A reproofenterethmore into a wise manthan an hundredstripesinto a fool.
11An evil[man] seekethonly rebellion:therefore a cruelmessengershall be sentagainst him.
12Let a bearrobbedof her whelps meeta man,rather thana foolin his folly.
13Whoso rewardethevilfor good,evilshall not depart{08675;04185:08686} from his house.
14The beginningof strife[is as] when one letteth outwater:therefore leave offcontention,beforeit be meddledwith.
15He that justifieththe wicked,and he that condemneththe just,even they both[are] abominationto the LORD.
16Wherefore [is there] a pricein the handof a foolto getwisdom,seeing [he hath] no heart[to it]?
17A friendlovethat all times,and a brotheris bornfor adversity.
18A manvoidof understandingstrikethhands,[and] becomethsuretyin the presenceof his friend.
19He lovethtransgressionthat lovethstrife:[and] he that exaltethhis gateseekethdestruction.
20He that hath a frowardheartfindethno good:and he that hath a perversetonguefallethinto mischief.
21He that begettetha fool[doeth it] to his sorrow:and the fatherof a foolhath no joy.
22A merryheartdoeth good[like] a medicine:but a brokenspiritdrieththe bones.
23A wicked[man] taketha giftout of the bosomto pervertthe waysof judgment.
24Wisdom[is] before him that hath understanding;but the eyesof a fool[are] in the endsof the earth.
25A foolishson[is] a griefto his father,and bitternessto her that barehim.
26Also to punishthe just[is] not good,[nor] to strikeprincesfor equity.
27He that hathknowledgesparethhis words:[and] a manof understandingis of an excellentspirit.
28Even a fool,when he holdeth his peace,is countedwise:[and] he that shuttethhis lips[is esteemed] a man of understanding.
