Solomon's Proverbs: The Wise Son
1The proverbsof Solomon.A wisesonmaketh a gladfather:but a foolishson[is] the heavinessof his mother.
2Treasuresof wickednessprofitnothing: but righteousnessdeliverethfrom death.
3The LORDwill not sufferthe soulof the righteousto famish:but he casteth awaythe substanceof the wicked.
4He becometh poorthat dealeth[with] a slackhand:but the handof the diligentmaketh rich.
5He that gatherethin summer[is] a wiseson:[but] he that sleepethin harvest[is] a sonthat causeth shame.
6Blessings[are] upon the headof the just:but violencecovereththe mouthof the wicked.
7The memoryof the just[is] blessed:but the nameof the wickedshall rot.
8The wisein heartwill receivecommandments:but a pratingfoolshall fall.
9He that walkethuprightlywalkethsurely:but he that pervertethhis waysshall be known.
10He that winkethwith the eyecausethsorrow:but a pratingfoolshall fall.
11The mouthof a righteous[man is] a wellof life:but violencecovereththe mouthof the wicked.
12Hatredstirreth upstrifes:but lovecoverethall sins.
13In the lipsof him that hath understandingwisdomis found:but a rod[is] for the backof him that is voidof understanding.
14Wise[men] lay upknowledge:but the mouthof the foolish[is] neardestruction.
15The rich man'swealth[is] his strongcity:the destructionof the poor[is] their poverty.
16The labourof the righteous[tendeth] to life:the fruitof the wickedto sin.
17He [is in] the wayof lifethat keepethinstruction:but he that refusethreprooferreth.
18He that hidethhatred[with] lyinglips,and he that utteretha slander,[is] a fool.
19In the multitudeof wordsthere wantethnot sin:but he that refrainethhis lips[is] wise.
20The tongueof the just[is as] choicesilver:the heartof the wicked[is] little worth.
21The lipsof the righteousfeedmany:but foolsdiefor wantof wisdom.
22The blessingof the LORD,it maketh rich,and he addethno sorrowwith it.
23[It is] as sportto a foolto domischief:but a manof understandinghath wisdom.
24The fearof the wicked,it shall comeupon him: but the desireof the righteousshall be granted.
25As the whirlwindpasseth,so [is] the wickedno [more]: but the righteous[is] an everlastingfoundation.
26As vinegarto the teeth,and as smoketo the eyes,so [is] the sluggardto them that sendhim.
27The fearof the LORDprolongethdays:but the yearsof the wickedshall be shortened.
28The hopeof the righteous[shall be] gladness:but the expectationof the wickedshall perish.
29The wayof the LORD[is] strengthto the upright:but destruction[shall be] to the workersof iniquity.
30The righteousshall neverbe removed:but the wickedshall not inhabitthe earth.
31The mouthof the justbringeth forthwisdom:but the frowardtongueshall be cut out.
32The lipsof the righteousknowwhat is acceptable:but the mouthof the wicked[speaketh] frowardness.
