The Second Passover
(Exodus 12:1-13)
1And the LORDspakeunto Mosesin the wildernessof Sinai,in the firstmonthof the secondyearafter they were come outof the landof Egypt,saying,2Let the childrenof Israelalso keepthe passoverat his appointed season.3In the fourteenthdayof this month,at even,ye shall keepit in his appointed season:according to all the ritesof it, and according to all the ceremoniesthereof, shall ye keepit.4And Mosesspakeunto the childrenof Israel,that they should keepthe passover.5And they keptthe passoveron the fourteenthdayof the firstmonthat evenin the wildernessof Sinai:according to all that the LORDcommandedMoses,so didthe childrenof Israel.6And there were certain men,who were defiledby the dead bodyof a man,that they couldnot keepthe passoveron that day:and they camebeforeMosesand beforeAaronon that day:7And thosemensaidunto him, We [are] defiledby the dead bodyof a man:wherefore are we kept back,that we may not offeran offeringof the LORDin his appointed seasonamongthe childrenof Israel?8And Mosessaidunto them, Stand still,and I will hearwhat the LORDwill commandconcerning you.
9And the LORDspakeunto Moses,saying,10Speakunto the childrenof Israel,saying,If anymanof you or of your posterityshall be uncleanby reason of a dead body,or [be] in a journeyafar off,yet he shall keepthe passoverunto the LORD.11The fourteenthdayof the secondmonthat eventhey shall keepit, [and] eatit with unleavened breadand bitter[herbs].12They shall leavenone of it unto the morning,nor breakany boneof it: according to all the ordinancesof the passoverthey shall keepit.13But the manthat [is] clean,and is not in a journey,and forbearethto keepthe passover,even the same soulshall be cut offfrom among his people:because he broughtnot the offeringof the LORDin his appointed season,that manshall bearhis sin.14And if a strangershall sojournamong you, and will keepthe passoverunto the LORD;according to the ordinanceof the passover,and according to the mannerthereof, so shall he do:ye shall have oneordinance,both for the stranger,and for him that was bornin the land.
The Cloud above the Tabernacle
(Exodus 40:34-38)
15And on the daythat the tabernaclewas reared upthe cloudcoveredthe tabernacle,[namely], the tentof the testimony:and at eventhere was upon the tabernacleas it were the appearanceof fire,until the morning.16So it was alway:the cloudcoveredit [by day], and the appearanceof fireby night.17And whenthe cloudwas taken upfrom the tabernacle,then afterthat the childrenof Israeljourneyed:and in the placewhere the cloudabode,there the childrenof Israelpitched their tents.18At the commandmentof the LORDthe childrenof Israeljourneyed,and at the commandmentof the LORDthey pitched:as long asthe cloudabodeupon the tabernaclethey restedin their tents.19And when the cloudtarried longupon the tabernaclemanydays,then the childrenof Israelkeptthe chargeof the LORD,and journeyednot.20And [so] it was,when the cloudwas a fewdaysupon the tabernacle;according to the commandmentof the LORDthey abodein their tents, and according to the commandmentof the LORDthey journeyed.21And [so] it was,when the cloudabode from evenunto the morning,and [that] the cloudwas taken upin the morning,then they journeyed:whether [it was] by dayor by nightthat the cloudwas taken up,they journeyed.22Or [whether it were] two days,or a month,or a year,that the cloudtarriedupon the tabernacle,remainingthereon, the childrenof Israelabodein their tents, and journeyednot: but when it was taken up,they journeyed.23At the commandmentof the LORDthey restedin the tents, and at the commandmentof the LORDthey journeyed:they keptthe chargeof the LORD,at the commandmentof the LORDby the handof Moses.
