Balaam's Third Oracle

1And when Balaamsawthat it pleasedthe LORDto blessIsrael,he wentnot, as at other times,to seekfor enchantments,but he sethis facetoward the wilderness.2And Balaamlifted uphis eyes,and he sawIsraelabiding[in his tents] according to their tribes;and the spiritof Godcame upon him.

3And he took uphis parable,and said,Balaamthe sonof Beorhath said,and the manwhose eyesare openhath said:

4He hath said,which heardthe wordsof God,which sawthe visionof the Almighty,falling[into a trance], but having his eyesopen:

5How goodlyare thy tents,O Jacob,[and] thy tabernacles,O Israel!

6As the valleysare they spread forth,as gardensby the river's side,as the trees of lign aloeswhich the LORDhath planted,[and] as cedar treesbeside the waters.

7He shall pourthe wateroutof his buckets,and his seed[shall be] in manywaters,and his kingshall be higherthan Agag,and his kingdomshall be exalted.

8Godbrought him forthout of Egypt;he hath as it were the strengthof an unicorn:he shall eat upthe nationshis enemies,and shall breaktheir bones,and pierce[them] through with his arrows.

9He couched,he lay downas a lion,and as a great lion:who shall stir him up?Blessed[is] he that blesseththee, and cursed[is] he that curseththee.

Balak Dismisses Balaam

10And Balak'sangerwas kindledagainst Balaam,and he smotehis handstogether:and Balaksaidunto Balaam,I calledthee to cursemine enemies,and, behold, thou hast altogetherblessed[them] these threetimes.11Therefore now fleethou to thy place:I thoughtto promotethee unto greathonour;but, lo, the LORDhath kept thee backfrom honour.12And Balaamsaidunto Balak,SpakeI not also to thy messengerswhich thou sentestunto me, saying,13If Balakwould giveme his housefullof silverand gold,I cannotgo beyondthe commandmentof the LORD,to do[either] goodor badof mine own mind;[but] what the LORDsaith,that will I speak?14And now, behold, I gounto my people:come[therefore, and] I will advertisethee what this peopleshall doto thy peoplein the latterdays.

Balaam's Fourth Oracle

15And he took uphis parable,and said,Balaamthe sonof Beorhath said,and the manwhose eyesare openhath said:

16He hath said,which heardthe wordsof God,and knewthe knowledgeof the most High,[which] sawthe visionof the Almighty,falling[into a trance], but having his eyesopen:

17I shall seehim, but not now: I shall beholdhim, but not nigh:there shall comea Starout of Jacob,and a Sceptreshall riseout of Israel,and shall smitethe cornersof Moab,and destroyall the childrenof Sheth.

18And Edomshall be a possession,Seiralso shall be a possessionfor his enemies;and Israelshall dovaliantly.

19Out of Jacobshall come he that shall have dominion,and shall destroyhim that remainethof the city.

Balaam's Final Three Oracles

20And when he lookedon Amalek,he took uphis parable,and said,Amalek[was] the firstof the nations;but his latterend [shall be] that he perishfor ever.

21And he lookedon the Kenites,and took uphis parable,and said,Strongis thy dwellingplace,and thou puttestthy nestin a rock.

22Nevertheless the Keniteshallbe wasted,until Asshurshall carry thee away captive.

23And he took uphis parable,and said,Alas,who shall livewhen Goddoeththis!

24And ships[shall come] from the coastof Chittim,and shall afflictAsshur,and shall afflictEber,and he also shall perishfor ever.

25And Balaamrose up,and wentand returnedto his place:and Balakalso wenthis way.
