Rulers and Prophets Condemned
And I said,Hear,I pray you, O headsof Jacob,and ye princesof the houseof Israel;[Is it] not for you to knowjudgment?
Who hatethe good,and lovethe evil;who pluck offtheir skinfrom off them, and their fleshfrom off their bones;
Who also eatthe fleshof my people,and flaytheir skinfrom off them; and they breaktheir bones,and chop them in pieces,as for the pot,and as fleshwithinthe caldron.
Then shall they cryunto the LORD,but he will not hearthem: he will even hidehis facefrom them at that time,as they have behaved themselves illin their doings.
Thus saiththe LORDconcerning the prophetsthat make my peopleerr,that bitewith their teeth,and cry,Peace;and he that puttethnot into their mouths,they even preparewaragainst him.
Therefore night[shall be] unto you, that ye shall not have a vision;and it shall be darkunto you, that ye shall not divine;and the sunshall go downover the prophets,and the dayshall be darkover them.
Then shall the seersbe ashamed,and the divinersconfounded:yea, they shall all covertheir lips;for [there is] no answerof God.
But trulyI am fullof powerby the spiritof the LORD,and of judgment,and of might,to declareunto Jacobhis transgression,and to Israelhis sin.
Hearthis, I pray you, ye headsof the houseof Jacob,and princesof the houseof Israel,that abhorjudgment,and pervertall equity.
They build upZionwith blood,and Jerusalemwith iniquity.
The headsthereof judgefor reward,and the prieststhereof teachfor hire,and the prophetsthereof divinefor money:yet will they leanupon the LORD,and say,[Is] not the LORDamongus? none evilcan comeupon us.
Therefore shall Zionfor your sakebe plowed[as] a field,and Jerusalemshall become heaps,and the mountainof the houseas the high placesof the forest.
