Judgment against Israel
(Isaiah 7:17-25)
1The wordof the LORDthat came to Micahthe Morasthitein the daysof Jotham,Ahaz,[and] Hezekiah,kingsof Judah,which he sawconcerning Samariaand Jerusalem.
2Hear,all ye people;hearken,O earth,and all that thereinis: and let the LordGODbe witnessagainst you, the Lordfrom his holytemple.
3For, behold, the LORDcometh forthout of his place,and will come down,and treadupon the high placesof the earth.
4And the mountainsshall be moltenunder him, and the valleysshall be cleft,as waxbeforethe fire,[and] as the waters[that are] poureddown a steep place.
5For the transgressionof Jacob[is] all this, and for the sinsof the houseof Israel.What [is] the transgressionof Jacob?[is it] not Samaria?and what [are] the high placesof Judah?[are they] not Jerusalem?
6Therefore I will makeSamariaas an heapof the field,[and] as plantingsof a vineyard:and I will pour downthe stonesthereof into the valley,and I will discoverthe foundationsthereof.
7And all the graven imagesthereof shall be beaten to pieces,and all the hiresthereof shall be burnedwith the fire,and all the idolsthereof will I laydesolate:for she gathered[it] of the hireof an harlot,and they shall returnto the hireof an harlot.
Weeping and Mourning
8Therefore I will wailand howl,I will gostrippedand naked:I will makea wailinglike the dragons,and mourningas the owls.
9For her wound[is] incurable;for it is comeunto Judah;he is comeunto the gateof my people,[even] to Jerusalem.
10Declareye [it] not at Gath,weepye not at all:in the house of Aphrahroll{08675;06428:08694} thyself in the dust.
11Pass ye away,thou inhabitantof Saphir,having thy shamenaked:the inhabitantof Zaanancame not forthin the mourningof Bethezel;he shall receiveof you his standing.
12For the inhabitantof Marothwaited carefullyfor good:but evilcame downfrom the LORDunto the gateof Jerusalem.
13O thou inhabitantof Lachish,bindthe chariotto the swift beast:she [is] the beginningof the sinto the daughterof Zion:for the transgressionsof Israelwere foundin thee.
14Therefore shalt thou givepresentsto Moreshethgath:the housesof Achzib[shall be] a lieto the kingsof Israel.
15Yet will I bringan heirunto thee, O inhabitantof Mareshah:he shall comeunto Adullamthe gloryof Israel.
16Make thee bald,and pollthee for thy delicatechildren;enlargethy baldnessas the eagle;for they are gone into captivityfrom thee.
