Jesus Rejected at Nazareth

1Andhe went outfrom thence,andcameintohis owncountry;andhisdisciplesfollowhim.2Andwhen the sabbath daywas come,he beganto teachinthe synagogue:andmanyhearing[him] were astonished,saying,From whencehath this[man] these things?andwhatwisdom[is] this which is givenunto him,thatevensuchmighty worksare wroughtbyhishands?3Isnotthisthe carpenter,the sonof Mary,the brotherof James,andJoses,andof Juda,andSimon?andarenothissistersherewithus?Andthey were offendedathim.4ButJesussaidunto them,A prophetisnotwithout honour,butinhis owncountry,andamonghis own kin,andinhis ownhouse.5Andhe couldtheredonomighty work,savethat he laidhis handsupon a fewsick folk,and healed[them].6Andhe marvelledbecauseof theirunbelief.Andhe wentround aboutthe villages,teaching.
The Ministry of the Twelve

7Andhe called[unto him] the twelve,andbeganto sendthemforthby twoand two;andgavethempower overuncleanspirits;8Andcommandedthemthatthey should takenothingfor[their] journey,savea staffonly;noscrip,nobread,nomoneyin[their] purse:9But[be] shodwith sandals;andnotput on{5625;1746:5670} twocoats.10Andhe saidunto them,In what place soeverye enterintoan house,thereabidetillye departfrom that place.11Andwhosoevershallnotreceiveyou,norhearyou,when ye departthence,shake offthe dustunderyourfeetfora testimonyagainst them.VerilyI sayunto you,It shall bemore tolerablefor SodomandGomorrhainthe dayof judgment,thanfor thatcity.12Andthey went out,and preachedthatmen should repent.13Andthey cast outmanydevils,andanointedwith oilmanythat were sick,andhealed[them].
The Beheading of John

14AndkingHerodheard[of him]; (forhisnamewasspread abroad:) andhe said,ThatJohnthe Baptistwas risenfromthe dead,andthereforemighty worksdo shew forth themselvesinhim.15Otherssaid,Thatit isElias.Andotherssaid,Thatit isa prophet,orasone ofthe prophets.16Butwhen Herodheard[thereof], he said,ItisJohn,whomIbeheaded:heis risenfromthe dead.
17ForHerodhimselfhad sent forthand laid holdupon John,andboundhiminprisonforHerodias'sake,hisbrotherPhilip'swife:forhe had marriedher.18ForJohnhad saidunto Herod,It isnotlawfulfor theeto havethybrother'swife.19ThereforeHerodiashad a quarrelagainst him,andwouldhave killedhim;butshe couldnot:20ForHerodfearedJohn,knowingthat hewas a justmanandan holy,andobservedhim;andwhen he heardhim,he didmany things,andheardhimgladly.21Andwhen a convenientdaywas come,thatHerodon hisbirthdaymadea supperto hislords,high captains,andchief[estates] of Galilee;22Andwhen the daughterof the saidHerodiascame in,anddanced,andpleasedHerodandthem that sat with him,the kingsaidunto the damsel,Askof mewhatsoeverthou wilt,andI will give[it] thee.23Andhe swareunto her,Whatsoeverthou shalt askof me,I will give[it] thee,untothe halfof mykingdom.24Andshe went forth,and saidunto hermother,Whatshall I ask?Andshe said,The headof Johnthe Baptist.25Andshe came instraightwaywithhasteuntothe king,and asked,saying,I willthatthou givemeby and byina chargerthe headof Johnthe Baptist.26Andthe kingwasexceeding sorry;[yet] forhis oath's sake,andfor their sakes whichsat with him,he wouldnotrejecther.27Andimmediatelythe kingsentan executioner,and commandedhisheadto be brought:andhe wentand beheadedhiminthe prison,28Andbroughthisheadina charger,andgaveitto the damsel:andthe damselgaveitto hermother.29Andwhen hisdisciplesheard[of it], they cameandtook uphiscorpse,andlaiditina tomb.
The Feeding of the Five Thousand

30Andthe apostlesgathered themselves togetheruntoJesus,andtoldhimall things,bothwhatthey had done,andwhatthey had taught.31Andhe saidunto them,Comeyeyourselvesapartintoa desertplace,andresta while:forthere weremanycomingandgoing,andthey had noleisureso much asto eat.32Andthey departedintoa desertplaceby shipprivately.
33Andthe peoplesawthemdeparting,andmanyknewhim,andranafootthitherout ofallcities,andoutwentthem,andcame togetheruntohim.34AndJesus,when he came out,sawmuchpeople,andwas moved with compassiontowardthem,becausethey wereassheepnothavinga shepherd:andhe beganto teachthemmany things.35Andwhen the daywasnowfar spent,hisdisciplescameunto him,and said,This isa desertplace,andnowthe time[is] far passed:36Sendthemaway,thatthey may gointothe countryround about,andinto the villages,and buythemselvesbread:forthey havenothingto eat.37He answeredandsaidunto them,Giveyethemto eat.Andthey sayunto him,Shall we goand buytwo hundredpennyworthof bread,andgivethemto eat?38<1161> He saithunto them,How manyloaveshave ye?goandsee.Andwhen they knew,they say,Five,andtwofishes.39Andhe commandedthemto makeallsit downby companiesuponthe greengrass.40Andthey sat downin ranks,byhundreds,andbyfifties.41Andwhen he had takenthe fiveloavesandthe twofishes,he looked uptoheaven,and blessed,andbrakethe loaves,andgave[them] to hisdisciplestoset beforethem;andthe twofishesdivided heamong them all.42Andthey didalleat,andwere filled.43Andthey took uptwelvebasketsfullof the fragments,andofthe fishes.44Andthey that did eatof the loaveswereaboutfive thousandmen.
Jesus Walks on Water
(Matthew 14:22-33;John 6:16-25)
45Andstraightwayhe constrainedhisdisciplesto getintothe ship,andto gotothe other sidebeforeuntoBethsaida,whilehesent awaythe people.46Andwhen he had sentthemaway,he departedintoa mountainto pray.
47Andwhen evenwas come,the shipwasinthe midstof the sea,andhealoneonthe land.48Andhe sawthemtoilinginrowing;forthe windwascontraryunto them:andaboutthe fourthwatchof the nighthe comethuntothem,walkinguponthe sea,andwouldhave passed bythem.49Butwhen they sawhimwalkinguponthe sea,they supposedit had beena spirit,andcried out:50Forthey allsawhim,andwere troubled.Andimmediatelyhe talkedwiththem,andsaithunto them,Be of good cheer:it isI;benotafraid.51Andhe went upuntothemintothe ship;andthe windceased:andthey were soreamazedinthemselvesbeyondmeasure,andwondered.52Forthey considerednot[the miracle] ofthe loaves:fortheirheartwashardened.
Jesus Heals at Gennesaret

53Andwhen they had passed over,they cameintothe landof Gennesaret,anddrew to the shore.54Andwhen theywere comeout ofthe ship,straightwaythey knewhim,55And ran throughthatwholeregion round about,and beganto carry aboutinbedsthose that weresick,wherethey heardhe was.56Andwhithersoeverhe entered,intovillages,orcities,orcountry,they laidthe sickinthe streets,andbesoughthimthatthey might touchifit were butthe borderof hisgarment:andas manyastouchedhimwere made whole.
