Jesus Calls His First Disciples

1Andit came to pass,that, asthe peoplepressed uponhimto hearthe wordof God,hestoodbythe lakeof Gennesaret,2Andsawtwoshipsstandingbythe lake:butthe fishermenwere goneout ofthem,and were washing[their] nets.3Andhe enteredintooneof the ships,whichwasSimon's,and prayedhimthat he would thrust outa littlefromthe land.Andhe sat down,and taughtthe peopleout ofthe ship.4Nowwhenhe had leftspeaking,he saiduntoSimon,Launch outintothe deep,andlet downyournetsfora draught.5AndSimonansweringsaidunto him,Master,we have toiledallthe night,and have takennothing:neverthelessatthywordI will let downthe net.6Andwhen they hadthisdone,they incloseda greatmultitudeof fishes:andtheirnetbrake.7Andthey beckonedunto [their] partners,whichwere inthe othership,that they should comeand helpthem.Andthey came,andfilledboththe ships,sothat theybegan to sink.8WhenSimonPetersaw[it], he fell down atJesus'knees,saying,Departfromme;forI ama sinfulman,O Lord.9Forhewas astonished,andallthat werewith him,atthe draughtof the fisheswhichthey had taken:10Andso[was] alsoJames,andJohn,the sonsof Zebedee,whichwerepartnerswith Simon.AndJesussaiduntoSimon,Fear{5737} not;fromhenceforththou shaltcatchmen.11Andwhen they had broughttheir shipstoland,they forsookall,and followedhim.
The Leper's Prayer

17Andit came to passona certainday,ashewasteaching,thatthere werePhariseesanddoctors of the lawsitting by,whichwerecomeout ofeverytownof Galilee,andJudaea,andJerusalem:andthe powerof the Lordwas[present] tohealthem.18And,behold,menbroughtina beda manwhichwastaken with a palsy:andthey sought[means] to bringhimin,andto lay[him] beforehim.19Andwhen they couldnotfindbywhat[way] they might bringhiminbecauseof the multitude,they wentuponthe housetop,and lethimdownthroughthe tilingwith[his] couchintothe midstbeforeJesus.20Andwhen he sawtheirfaith,he saidunto him,Man,thysinsare forgiventhee.21Andthe scribesandthe Phariseesbeganto reason,saying,Whoisthiswhichspeakethblasphemies?Whocanforgivesins,butGodalone?22Butwhen Jesusperceivedtheirthoughts,he answeringsaiduntothem,Whatreason yeinyourhearts?23Whetheriseasier,to say,Thysinsbe forgiventhee;orto say,Rise upandwalk?24Butthatye may knowthatthe Sonof manhathpoweruponearthto forgivesins,(he saidunto the sick of the palsy,) I sayunto thee,Arise,andtake upthycouch,and gointothinehouse.25Andimmediatelyhe rose upbeforethem,and took upthat whereonhe lay,and departedtohis ownhouse,glorifyingGod.26Andthey wereallamazed,andthey glorifiedGod,andwere filledwith fear,saying,We have seenstrange thingsto day.
Jesus Calls Levi

27Andafterthese thingshe went forth,andsawa publican,namedLevi,sittingatthe receipt of custom:andhe saidunto him,Followme.28Andhe leftall,rose up,and followedhim.
29AndLevimadehima greatfeastinhis ownhouse:andthere wasa greatcompanyof publicansandof othersthatsat downwiththem.30ButtheirscribesandPhariseesmurmuredagainsthisdisciples,saying,Whydo ye eatanddrinkwithpublicansandsinners?31AndJesusansweringsaiduntothem,They that are wholeneednota physician;butthey that aresick.32I camenotto callthe righteous,butsinnerstorepentance.
Jesus Questioned about Fasting

33Andthey saiduntohim,Whydothe disciplesof Johnfastoften,andmakeprayers,andlikewise[the disciples] of the Pharisees;butthineeatanddrink?34Andhe saiduntothem,Can yemakethe childrenof the bridechamberfast,whilethe bridegroomiswiththem?35Butthe dayswill come,whenthe bridegroomshall be taken awayfromthem,and thenshall they fastinthosedays.
The Patches and Wineskins

36Andhe spakealsoa parableuntothem;No manputtetha pieceof a newgarmentuponan old;if otherwise, thenboththe newmaketh a rent,andthe piecethat was [taken] out ofthe newagreethnotwith the old.37Andno manputtethnewwineintooldbottles;elsethe newwinewill burstthe bottles,andbe spilled,andthe bottlesshall perish.38Butnewwinemust be putintonewbottles;andbothare preserved.39No manalsohaving drunkold[wine] straightwaydesirethnew:forhe saith,The oldisbetter.
