Cleansing the Leper

(Matthew 8:1-4;Mark 1:40-45;Luke 5:12-16)

1And the LORDspakeunto Moses,saying,2This shall be the lawof the leperin the dayof his cleansing:He shall be broughtunto the priest:3And the priestshall go forthoutof the camp;and the priestshall look,and, behold, [if] the plagueof leprosybe healedin the leper;4Then shall the priestcommandto takefor him that is to be cleansedtwobirdsalive[and] clean,and cedarwood,and scarlet,and hyssop:5And the priestshall commandthat oneof the birdsbe killedin an earthenvesselover runningwater:6As for the livingbird,he shall takeit, and the cedarwood,and the scarlet,and the hyssop,and shall dipthem and the livingbirdin the bloodof the bird[that was] killedover the runningwater:7And he shall sprinkleupon him that is to be cleansedfrom the leprosyseventimes,and shall pronounce him clean,and shall let the livingbirdlooseinto the openfield.8And he that is to be cleansedshall washhis clothes,and shaveoff all his hair,and washhimself in water,that he may be clean:and afterthat he shall comeinto the camp,and shall tarryabroadout of his tentsevendays.9But it shall be on the seventhday,that he shall shaveall his hairoff his headand his beardand his eyebrows,even all his hairhe shall shaveoff: and he shall washhis clothes,also he shall washhis fleshin water,and he shall be clean.

10And on the eighthdayhe shall taketwohe lambswithout blemish,and oneewe lambof the firstyearwithout blemish,and threetenth dealsof fine flour[for] a meat offering,mingledwith oil,and onelogof oil.11And the priestthat maketh [him] cleanshall presentthe manthat is to be made clean,and those things, beforethe LORD,[at] the doorof the tabernacleof the congregation:12And the priestshall takeonehe lamb,and offerhim for a trespass offering,and the logof oil,and wavethem [for] a wave offeringbeforethe LORD:13And he shall slaythe lambin the placewhere he shall killthe sin offeringand the burnt offering,in the holyplace:for as the sin offering[is] the priest's,[so is] the trespass offering:it [is] mostholy:14And the priestshall take[some] of the bloodof the trespass offering,and the priestshall put[it] upon the tipof the rightearof him that is to be cleansed,and upon the thumbof his righthand,and upon the great toeof his rightfoot:15And the priestshall take[some] of the logof oil,and pour[it] into the palmof his ownleft hand:16And the priestshall diphis rightfingerin the oilthat [is] in his lefthand,and shall sprinkleof the oilwith his fingerseventimesbeforethe LORD:17And of the restof the oilthat [is] in his handshall the priestputupon the tipof the rightearof him that is to be cleansed,and upon the thumbof his righthand,and upon the great toeof his rightfoot,upon the bloodof the trespass offering:18And the remnantof the oilthat [is] in the priest'shandhe shall pourupon the headof him that is to be cleansed:and the priestshall make an atonementfor him beforethe LORD.19And the priestshall offerthe sin offering,and make an atonementfor him that is to be cleansedfrom his uncleanness;and afterwardhe shall killthe burnt offering:20And the priestshall offerthe burnt offeringand the meat offeringupon the altar:and the priestshall make an atonementfor him, and he shall be clean.

21And if he [be] poor,and cannot getso much; then he shall takeonelamb[for] a trespass offeringto be waved,to make an atonementfor him, and onetenth dealof fine flourmingledwith oilfor a meat offering,and a logof oil;22And twoturtledoves,or twoyoungpigeons,such as he is able to get;and the oneshall be a sin offering,and the othera burnt offering.23And he shall bringthem on the eighthdayfor his cleansingunto the priest,unto the doorof the tabernacleof the congregation,beforethe LORD.24And the priestshall takethe lambof the trespass offering,and the logof oil,and the priestshall wavethem [for] a wave offeringbeforethe LORD:25And he shall killthe lambof the trespass offering,and the priestshall take[some] of the bloodof the trespass offering,and put[it] upon the tipof the rightearof him that is to be cleansed,and upon the thumbof his righthand,and upon the great toeof his rightfoot:26And the priestshall pourof the oilinto the palmof his ownleft hand:27And the priestshall sprinklewith his rightfinger[some] of the oilthat [is] in his lefthandseventimesbeforethe LORD:28And the priestshall putof the oilthat [is] in his handupon the tipof the rightearof him that is to be cleansed,and upon the thumbof his righthand,and upon the great toeof his rightfoot,upon the placeof the bloodof the trespass offering:29And the restof the oilthat [is] in the priest'shandhe shall putupon the headof him that is to be cleansed,to make an atonementfor him beforethe LORD.30And he shall offerthe oneof the turtledoves,or of the youngpigeons,such ashe can get;31[Even] such as heis able to get,the one[for] a sin offering,and the other[for] a burnt offering,with the meat offering:and the priestshall make an atonementfor him that is to be cleansedbeforethe LORD.32This [is] the law[of him] in whom [is] the plagueof leprosy,whose handis not able to get[that which pertaineth] to his cleansing.

Signs of Home Contamination

33And the LORDspakeunto Mosesand unto Aaron,saying,

34When ye be comeinto the landof Canaan,which I giveto you for a possession,and I putthe plagueof leprosyin a houseof the landof your possession;35And he that owneth the houseshall comeand tellthe priest,saying,It seemethto me [there is] as it were a plaguein the house:36Then the priestshall commandthat they emptythe house,before the priestgo[into it] to seethe plague,that all that [is] in the housebe not made unclean:and afterwardthe priestshall goin to seethe house:37And he shall lookon the plague,and, behold, [if] the plague[be] in the wallsof the housewith hollow strakes,greenishor reddish,which in sight[are] lowerthanthe wall;38Then the priestshall goout of the houseto the doorof the house,and shutup the housesevendays:39And the priestshall come againthe seventhday,and shall look:and, behold, [if] the plaguebe spreadin the wallsof the house;40Then the priestshall commandthat they takeaway the stonesin whichthe plague[is], and they shall castthem into an uncleanplacewithoutthe city:41And he shall cause the houseto be scrapedwithinround about,and they shall pourout the dustthat they scrapeoff withoutthe cityinto an uncleanplace:42And they shall takeotherstones,and put[them] in the placeof those stones;and he shall takeothermorter,and shall plaisterthe house.

43And if the plaguecome again,and breakout in the house,afterthat he hath takenaway the stones,and afterhe hath scrapedthe house,and afterit is plaistered;44Then the priestshall comeand look,and, behold, [if] the plaguebe spreadin the house,it [is] a frettingleprosyin the house:it [is] unclean.45And he shall break downthe house,the stonesof it, and the timberthereof, and all the morterof the house;and he shall carry [them] forthoutof the cityinto an uncleanplace.46Moreover he that goethinto the houseall the whilethat it is shutup shall be uncleanuntil the even.47And he that liethin the houseshall washhis clothes;and he that eatethin the houseshall washhis clothes.

Cleansing a Home

48And if the priestshall come in,and look[upon it], and, behold, the plaguehath not spreadin the house,afterthe housewas plaistered:then the priestshall pronounce the houseclean,because the plagueis healed.49And he shall taketo cleansethe housetwobirds,and cedarwood,and scarlet,and hyssop:50And he shall killthe oneof the birdsin an earthenvesselover runningwater:51And he shall takethe cedarwood,and the hyssop,and the scarlet,and the livingbird,and dipthem in the bloodof the slainbird,and in the runningwater,and sprinklethe houseseventimes:52And he shall cleansethe housewith the bloodof the bird,and with the runningwater,and with the livingbird,and with the cedarwood,and with the hyssop,and with the scarlet:53But he shall let gothe livingbirdoutof the cityinto the openfields,and make an atonementfor the house:and it shall be clean.

54This [is] the lawfor all manner of plagueof leprosy,and scall,55And for the leprosyof a garment,and of a house,56And for a rising,and for a scab,and for a bright spot:57To teachwhen[it is] unclean,and when[it is] clean:this [is] the lawof leprosy.
