Purification after Childbirth
(Genesis 17:9-27;Joshua 5:1-9;Acts 15:1-4)
1And the LORDspakeunto Moses,saying,2Speakunto the childrenof Israel,saying,If a womanhave conceived seed,and borna man child:then she shall be uncleansevendays;according to the daysof the separationfor her infirmityshall she be unclean.3And in the eighthdaythe fleshof his foreskinshall be circumcised.4And she shall then continuein the bloodof her purifyingthreeand thirtydays;she shall touchno hallowedthing, nor comeinto the sanctuary,until the daysof her purifyingbe fulfilled.5But if she beara maid child,then she shall be uncleantwo weeks,as in her separation:and she shall continuein the bloodof her purifyingthreescoreand sixdays.
6And when the daysof her purifyingare fulfilled,for a son,or for a daughter,she shall bringa lambof the firstyearfor a burnt offering,and a youngpigeon,or a turtledove,for a sin offering,unto the doorof the tabernacleof the congregation,unto the priest:7Who shall offerit beforethe LORD,and make an atonementfor her; and she shall be cleansedfrom the issueof her blood.This [is] the lawfor her that hath borna maleor a female.8And if she be not able to bringa lamb,then she shall bringtwoturtles,or two youngpigeons;the onefor the burnt offering,and the otherfor a sin offering:and the priestshall make an atonementfor her, and she shall be clean.
