(Psalm 137:1-9) 1Now it came to pass in the thirtiethyear,in the fourth[month], in the fifth[day] of the month,as I [was] amongthe captivesby the riverof Chebar,[that] the heavenswere opened, and I sawvisionsof God.2In the fifth[day] of the month, which [was] the fifthyearof kingJehoiachin'scaptivity,3The wordof the LORDcame expressly unto Ezekielthe priest, the sonof Buzi,in the landof the Chaldeansby the riverChebar;and the handof the LORDwas there upon him. Vision of Four Cherubim 4And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwindcameout of the north,a greatcloud, and a fireinfoldingitself, and a brightness[was] aboutit, and out of the midstthereof as the colourof amber, out of the midstof the fire.5Also out of the midstthereof [came] the likenessof fourliving creatures. And this [was] their appearance;theyhad the likenessof a man.6And every onehad fourfaces, and every onehad fourwings.7And their feet[were] straightfeet;and the soleof their feet[was] like the soleof a calf'sfoot:and they sparkledlike the colourof burnishedbrass.8And [they had] the handsof a manunder their wingson their foursides;and they fourhad their facesand their wings.9Their wings[were] joinedoneto another;they turnednot when they went;they wentevery onestraightforward.10As for the likenessof their faces, they fourhad the faceof a man,and the faceof a lion,on the right side:and they fourhad the faceof an oxon the left side;they fouralso had the faceof an eagle.11Thus [were] their faces:and their wings[were] stretchedupward;two[wings] of every one[were] joinedoneto another, and twocoveredtheir bodies.12And they wentevery onestraightforward:whither the spiritwas to go,they went;[and] they turnednot when they went.13As for the likenessof the living creatures, their appearance[was] like burningcoalsof fire,[and] like the appearanceof lamps:it went up and downamong the living creatures;and the firewas bright, and out of the firewent forthlightning.14And the living creaturesranand returnedas the appearanceof a flash of lightning. Vision of the Four Wheels 15Now as I beheldthe living creatures, behold onewheelupon the earthbythe living creatures, with his fourfaces.16The appearanceof the wheelsand their work[was] like unto the colourof a beryl:and they fourhad onelikeness:and their appearanceand their work[was] as it were a wheelin the middleof a wheel.17When they went, they wentupon their foursides:[and] they turnednot when they went.18As for their rings, they were so highthat they were dreadful;and their rings[were] fullof eyesround aboutthem four.19And when the living creatureswent, the wheelswentby them:and when the living creatureswere lifted upfrom the earth, the wheelswere lifted up.20Whithersoever the spiritwas to go,they went, thither [was their] spiritto go;and the wheelswere lifted upover againstthem: for the spiritof the living creature[was] in the wheels.21When those went,[these] went;and when those stood,[these] stood;and when those were lifted upfrom the earth, the wheelswere lifted upover againstthem: for the spiritof the living creature[was] in the wheels. Vision of the Divine Glory 22And the likenessof the firmamentupon the headsof the living creature[was] as the colourof the terriblecrystal, stretched forthover their headsabove.23And under the firmament[were] their wingsstraight, the onetoward the other:every onehad two, which coveredon this side, and every onehad two, which coveredon that side, their bodies.24And when they went,I heardthe noiseof their wings, like the noiseof greatwaters,as the voiceof the Almighty, the voiceof speech,as the noiseof an host:when they stood, they let downtheir wings.25And there was a voicefrom the firmamentthat [was] over their heads, when they stood,[and] had let downtheir wings. 26And abovethe firmamentthat [was] over their heads[was] the likenessof a throne,as the appearanceof a sapphirestone:and upon the likenessof the throne[was] the likenessas the appearanceof a manaboveupon it.27And I sawas the colourof amber,as the appearanceof fireround aboutwithinit, from the appearanceof his loinseven upward, and from the appearanceof his loinseven downward,I sawas it were the appearanceof fire, and it had brightnessround about.28As the appearanceof the bowthat is in the cloudin the dayof rain,so [was] the appearanceof the brightnessround about. This [was] the appearanceof the likenessof the gloryof the LORD.And when I saw[it], I fellupon my face, and I hearda voiceof one that spake. |
