Elihu Reminds Job of God's Justice
Elihuspakemoreover, and said,
Thinkestthou this to be right,[that] thou saidst,My righteousness[is] more than God's?
For thou saidst,What advantagewill it be unto thee? [and], What profitshall I have, [if I be cleansed] from my sin?
I will answerthee, and thy companionswith thee.
Lookunto the heavens,and see;and beholdthe clouds[which] are higherthan thou.
If thou sinnest,what doestthou against him? or [if] thy transgressionsbe multiplied,what doestthou unto him?
If thou be righteous,what givestthou him? or what receivethhe of thine hand?
Thy wickedness[may hurt] a manas thou [art]; and thy righteousness[may profit] the sonof man.
By reason of the multitudeof oppressionsthey make [the oppressed] to cry:they cry outby reason of the armof the mighty.
But none saith,Where [is] Godmy maker,who givethsongsin the night;
Who teachethus more than the beastsof the earth,and maketh us wiserthan the fowlsof heaven?
There they cry,but none giveth answer,becauseof the prideof evil men.
Surely Godwill not hearvanity,neither will the Almightyregardit.
Althoughthou sayestthou shalt not seehim, [yet] judgment[is] beforehim; therefore trustthou in him.
But now, because [it is] not [so], he hath visitedin his anger;yet he knoweth[it] not in greatextremity:
Therefore doth Jobopenhis mouthin vain;he multipliethwordswithoutknowledge.
