KJV + Strong's The Good and Bad Figs 1The LORDshewedme, and, behold, twobasketsof figs[were] setbeforethe templeof the LORD,afterthat Nebuchadrezzarkingof Babylonhad carried away captiveJeconiahthe sonof Jehoiakimkingof Judah,and the princesof Judah,with the carpentersand smiths,from Jerusalem,and had broughtthem to Babylon.2Onebasket[had] verygoodfigs,[even] like the figs[that are] first ripe:and the otherbasket[had] verynaughtyfigs,which could not be eaten,they were so bad.3Then saidthe LORDunto me, What seestthou, Jeremiah?And I said,Figs;the goodfigs,verygood;and the evil,veryevil,that cannot be eaten,they are so evil. 4Again the wordof the LORDcame unto me, saying,5Thus saiththe LORD,the Godof Israel;Like these goodfigs,so will I acknowledgethem that are carried away captiveof Judah,whom I have sentout of this placeinto the landof the Chaldeansfor [their] good.6For I will setmine eyesupon them for good,and I will bring them againto this land:and I will buildthem, and not pull [them] down;and I will plantthem, and not pluck [them] up.7And I will givethem an heartto knowme, that I [am] the LORD:and they shall be my people,and I will be their God:for they shall returnunto me with their whole heart. 8And as the evilfigs,which cannot be eaten,they are so evil;surely thus saiththe LORD,So will I giveZedekiahthe kingof Judah,and his princes,and the residueof Jerusalem,that remainin this land,and them that dwellin the landof Egypt:9And I will deliverthem to be removedinto all the kingdomsof the earthfor [their] hurt,[to be] a reproachand a proverb,a tauntand a curse,in all placeswhither I shall drivethem.10And I will sendthe sword,the famine,and the pestilence,among them, till they be consumedfrom off the landthat I gaveunto them and to their fathers. |
