I have digged, and drunkwater;and with the soleof my feethave I dried upall the riversof the besieged places.
Hast thou not heardlong ago,[how] I have doneit; [and] of ancienttimes, that I have formedit? now have I broughtit to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay wastedefencedcities[into] ruinousheaps.
Therefore their inhabitants[were] of smallpower, they were dismayedand confounded:they were [as] the grassof the field, and [as] the greenherb,[as] the grasson the housetops, and [as corn] blastedbeforeit be grown up.
But I knowthy abode, and thy going out,and thy coming in,and thy rageagainst me.
Because thy rageagainst me, and thy tumult,is come upinto mine ears, therefore will I putmy hookin thy nose, and my bridlein thy lips, and I will turn thee backby the wayby which thou camest.
And this [shall be] a signunto thee, Ye shall eat[this] yearsuch as growethof itself; and the secondyearthat which springethof the same: and in the thirdyearsowye, and reap, and plantvineyards, and eatthe fruitthereof.31And the remnantthat is escapedof the houseof Judahshall againtake rootdownward, and bearfruitupward:32For out of Jerusalemshall go fortha remnant, and they that escapeout of mountZion:the zealof the LORDof hostsshall dothis.
Therefore thus saiththe LORDconcerning the kingof Assyria,He shall not comeinto this city, nor shootan arrowthere, nor come beforeit with shields, nor casta bankagainst it.34By the waythat he came,by the same shall he return, and shall not comeinto this city, saiththe LORD.35For I will defendthis cityto saveit for mine own sake, and for my servantDavid'ssake.
