Judgment against Judah and Jerusalem

1For, behold, the Lord,the LORDof hosts,doth take awayfrom Jerusalemand from Judahthe stayand the staff,the whole stayof bread,and the wholestayof water,

2The mighty man,and the manof war,the judge,and the prophet,and the prudent,and the ancient,

3The captainof fifty,and the honourableman,and the counsellor,and the cunningartificer,and the eloquentorator.

4And I will givechildren[to be] their princes,and babesshall ruleover them.

5And the peopleshall be oppressed,every oneby another,and every oneby his neighbour:the childshall behave himself proudlyagainst the ancient,and the baseagainst the honourable.

6When a manshall take holdof his brotherof the houseof his father,[saying], Thou hast clothing,be thou our ruler,and [let] this ruin[be] under thy hand:

7In that dayshall he swear,saying,I will not be an healer;for in my house[is] neither breadnor clothing:makeme not a rulerof the people.

8For Jerusalemis ruined,and Judahis fallen:because their tongueand their doings[are] against the LORD,to provokethe eyesof his glory.

9The shewof their countenancedoth witness against them;and they declaretheir sinas Sodom,they hide[it] not. Woeunto their soul!for they have rewardedevilunto themselves.

10Sayye to the righteous,that [it shall be] well[with him]: for they shall eatthe fruitof their doings.

11Woeunto the wicked![it shall be] ill[with him]: for the rewardof his handsshall be givenhim.

12[As for] my people,children[are] their oppressors,and womenruleover them. O my people,they which leadthee cause [thee] to err,and destroythe wayof thy paths.

13The LORDstandeth upto plead,and standethto judgethe people.

14The LORDwill enterinto judgmentwith the ancientsof his people,and the princesthereof: for ye have eaten upthe vineyard;the spoilof the poor[is] in your houses.

15What mean ye [that] ye beatmy peopleto pieces,and grindthe facesof the poor?saiththe LordGODof hosts.

16Moreover the LORDsaith,Becausethe daughtersof Zionare haughty,and walkwith stretched forthnecksand wantoneyes,walkingand mincing[as] they go,and making a tinklingwith their feet:

17Therefore the Lordwill smite with a scabthe crown of the headof the daughtersof Zion,and the LORDwill discovertheir secret parts.

18In that daythe Lordwill take awaythe braveryof [their] tinkling ornaments[about their feet], and [their] cauls,and [their] round tires like the moon,19The chains,and the bracelets,and the mufflers,20The bonnets,and the ornaments of the legs,and the headbands,and the tablets,and the earrings,21The rings,and nosejewels,22The changeable suits of apparel,and the mantles,and the wimples,and the crisping pins,23The glasses,and the fine linen,and the hoods,and the vails.

24And it shall come to pass, [that] instead of sweet smellthere shall be stink;and instead of a girdlea rent;and instead of well sethairbaldness;and instead of a stomachera girdingof sackcloth;[and] burninginstead of beauty.

25Thy menshall fallby the sword,and thy mightyin the war.

26And her gatesshall lamentand mourn;and she [being] desolateshall situpon the ground.
