The Deliverance of Israel
1In that daythe LORDwith his soreand greatand strongswordshall punishleviathanthe piercingserpent,even leviathanthat crookedserpent;and he shall slaythe dragonthat [is] in the sea.
2In that daysingye unto her, A vineyardof red wine.
3I the LORDdo keepit; I will waterit every moment:lest [any] hurtit, I will keepit nightand day.
4Fury[is] not in me: who would setthe briers[and] thornsagainst me in battle?I would gothrough them, I would burnthem together.
5Or let him take holdof my strength,[that] he may makepeacewith me; [and] he shall makepeacewith me.
6He shall cause them that comeof Jacobto take root:Israelshall blossomand bud,and fillthe faceof the worldwith fruit.
7Hath he smittenhim, as he smotethose that smotehim? [or] is he slainaccording to the slaughterof them that are slainby him?
8In measure,when it shooteth forth,thou wilt debatewith it: he stayethhis roughwindin the dayof the east wind.
9By thistherefore shall the iniquityof Jacobbe purged;and this [is] all the fruitto take awayhis sin;when he makethall the stonesof the altaras chalkstonesthat are beaten in sunder,the grovesand imagesshall not stand up.
10Yet the defencedcity[shall be] desolate,[and] the habitationforsaken,and leftlike a wilderness:there shall the calffeed,and there shall he lie down,and consumethe branchesthereof.
11When the boughsthereof are withered,they shall be broken off:the womencome,[and] set them on fire:for it [is] a peopleof no understanding:therefore he that madethem will not have mercyon them, and he that formedthem will shew them no favour.
12And it shall come to pass in that day,[that] the LORDshall beat offfrom the channelof the riverunto the streamof Egypt,and ye shall be gatheredoneby one,O ye childrenof Israel.13And it shall come to pass in that day,[that] the greattrumpetshall be blown,and they shall comewhich were ready to perishin the landof Assyria,and the outcastsin the landof Egypt,and shall worshipthe LORDin the holymountat Jerusalem.
