A Message to Ethiopia
1Woeto the landshadowingwith wings,which [is] beyondthe riversof Ethiopia:
2That sendethambassadorsby the sea,even in vesselsof bulrushesuponthe waters,[saying], Go,ye swiftmessengers,to a nationscatteredand peeled,to a peopleterriblefrom their beginning hitherto;a nationmeted outand trodden down,whose landthe rivershave spoiled!
3All ye inhabitantsof the world,and dwellerson the earth,seeye, when he lifteth upan ensignon the mountains;and when he blowetha trumpet,hearye.
4For sothe LORDsaidunto me, I will take my rest,and I will considerin my dwelling placelike a clearheatupon herbs,[and] like a cloudof dewin the heatof harvest.
5For aforethe harvest,when the budis perfect,and the sour grapeis ripeningin the flower,he shall both cut offthe sprigswith pruning hooks,and take away[and] cut downthe branches.
6They shall be lefttogetherunto the fowlsof the mountains,and to the beastsof the earth:and the fowlsshall summerupon them, and all the beastsof the earthshall winterupon them.
7In that timeshall the presentbe broughtunto the LORDof hostsof a peoplescatteredand peeled,and from a peopleterriblefrom their beginning hitherto;a nationmeted outand trodden under foot,whose landthe rivershave spoiled,to the placeof the nameof the LORDof hosts,the mountZion.
