A Reproof of Ephraim, Judah, Jacob
Ephraimfeedethon wind,and followethafter the east wind:he dailyincreasethliesand desolation;and they do makea covenantwith the Assyrians,and oilis carriedinto Egypt.
The LORDhath also a controversywith Judah,and will punishJacobaccording to his ways;according to his doingswill he recompensehim.
He took his brotherby the heelin the womb,and by his strengthhe had powerwith God:
Yea, he had powerover the angel,and prevailed:he wept,and made supplicationunto him: he foundhim [in] Bethel,and there he spakewith us;
Even the LORDGodof hosts;the LORD[is] his memorial.
Therefore turnthou to thy God:keepmercyand judgment,and waiton thy Godcontinually.
[He is] a merchant,the balancesof deceit[are] in his hand:he lovethto oppress.
And Ephraimsaid,Yet I am become rich,I have found me outsubstance:[in] all my laboursthey shall findnone iniquityin me that [were] sin.
And I [that am] the LORDthy Godfrom the landof Egyptwill yet make thee to dwellin tabernacles,as in the daysof the solemn feast.
I have also spokenby the prophets,and I have multipliedvisions,and used similitudes,by the ministryof the prophets.
[Is there] iniquity[in] Gilead?surely they are vanity:they sacrificebullocksin Gilgal;yea, their altars[are] as heapsin the furrowsof the fields.
And Jacobfledinto the countryof Syria,and Israelservedfor a wife,and for a wifehe kept[sheep].
And by a prophetthe LORDbroughtIsraelout of Egypt,and by a prophetwas he preserved.
Ephraimprovoked [him] to angermost bitterly:therefore shall he leavehis bloodupon him, and his reproachshall his Lordreturnunto him.
