KJV + Strong's Jacob Blesses Ephraim and Manasseh 1And it came to pass afterthese things,that [one] toldJoseph,Behold, thy father[is] sick:and he tookwith him his twosons,Manassehand Ephraim.2And [one] toldJacob,and said,Behold, thy sonJosephcomethunto thee: and Israelstrengthenedhimself, and satupon the bed.3And Jacobsaidunto Joseph,GodAlmightyappearedunto me at Luzin the landof Canaan,and blessedme,4And saidunto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful,and multiplythee, and I will makeof thee a multitudeof people;and will givethis landto thy seedafter thee[for] an everlastingpossession.5And now thy twosons,Ephraimand Manasseh,which were bornunto thee in the landof EgyptbeforeI cameunto thee into Egypt,[are] mine; as Reubenand Simeon,they shall be mine.6And thy issue,which thou begettestafterthem, shall be thine, [and] shall be calledafterthe nameof their brethrenin their inheritance.7And as for me, when I camefrom Padan,Racheldiedby me in the landof Canaanin the way,whenyet [there was] but a littlewayto comeunto Ephrath:and I buried herthere in the wayof Ephrath;the same [is] Bethlehem. 8And IsraelbeheldJoseph'ssons,and said,Who [are] these?9And Josephsaidunto his father,They [are] my sons,whom Godhath givenme in this [place]. And he said,Bring them,I pray thee, unto me, and I will blessthem.10Now the eyesof Israelwere dimfor age,[so that] he couldnot see.And he brought them nearunto him; and he kissedthem, and embracedthem.11And Israelsaidunto Joseph,I had not thoughtto seethy face:and, lo, Godhath shewedme also thy seed.12And Josephbrought them outfrom betweenhis knees,and he bowedhimself with his faceto the earth.13And Josephtookthem both,Ephraimin his right handtoward Israel'sleft hand,and Manassehin his left handtoward Israel'sright hand,and brought [them] nearunto him.14And Israelstretched outhis right hand,and laid[it] upon Ephraim'shead,who [was] the younger,and his left handupon Manasseh'shead,guidinghis handswittingly;for Manasseh[was] the firstborn. 15And he blessedJoseph,and said,God,beforewhom my fathersAbrahamand Isaacdid walk,the Godwhich fedme all my life longunto this day, 16The Angelwhich redeemedme from all evil,blessthe lads;and let my namebe namedon them, and the nameof my fathersAbrahamand Isaac;and let them growinto a multitudein the midstof the earth. 17And when Josephsawthat his fatherlaidhis righthandupon the headof Ephraim,it displeasedhim: and he held uphis father'shand,to removeit from Ephraim'sheadunto Manasseh'shead.18And Josephsaidunto his father,Not so, my father:for this [is] the firstborn;putthy right handupon his head.19And his fatherrefused,and said,I know[it], my son,I know[it]: he also shall become a people,and he also shall be great:but trulyhis youngerbrothershall be greaterthan he, and his seedshall become a multitudeof nations. 20And he blessedthem that day,saying,In thee shall Israelbless,saying,Godmakethee as Ephraimand as Manasseh:and he setEphraimbeforeManasseh. 21And Israelsaidunto Joseph,Behold, I die:but Godshall be with you, and bring you againunto the landof your fathers.22Moreover I have givento thee oneportionabove thy brethren,which I tookout of the handof the Amoritewith my swordand with my bow. |
