KJV + Strong's The Dreams of Pharaoh 1And it came to pass at the endof two fullyears,that Pharaohdreamed:and, behold, he stoodby the river.2And, behold, there came upout of the riversevenwellfavouredkineand fatfleshed;and they fedin a meadow.3And, behold, sevenotherkinecame upafter themout of the river,illfavouredand leanfleshed;and stoodbythe [other] kineupon the brinkof the river.4And the illfavouredand leanfleshedkinedid eat upthe sevenwellfavouredand fatkine.So Pharaohawoke.5And he sleptand dreamedthe second time:and, behold, sevenears of corncame upupon onestalk,rankand good.6And, behold, seventhinearsand blastedwith the east windsprung upafter them.7And the seven thinearsdevouredthe sevenrankand fullears.And Pharaohawoke,and, behold, [it was] a dream.8And it came to pass in the morningthat his spiritwas troubled;and he sentand calledfor all the magiciansof Egypt,and all the wise menthereof: and Pharaohtoldthem his dream;but [there was] none that could interpretthem unto Pharaoh. 9Then spakethe chiefbutlerunto Pharaoh,saying,I do remembermy faultsthis day:10Pharaohwas wrothwith his servants,and putme in wardin the captainof the guard'shouse,[both] me and the chiefbaker:11And we dreameda dreamin onenight,I and he; we dreamedeach manaccording to the interpretationof his dream.12And [there was] there with us a young man,an Hebrew,servantto the captainof the guard;and we toldhim, and he interpretedto us our dreams;to each manaccording to his dreamhe did interpret.13And it came to pass, as he interpretedto us, so it was; me he restoredunto mine office,and him he hanged. Joseph Interprets Pharaoh's Dreams 14Then Pharaohsentand calledJoseph,and they brought him hastilyout of the dungeon:and he shaved[himself], and changedhis raiment,and came inunto Pharaoh.15And Pharaohsaidunto Joseph,I have dreameda dream,and [there is] none that can interpretit: and I have heardsayof thee, [that] thou canst understanda dreamto interpretit.16And JosephansweredPharaoh,saying,[It is] not in me:Godshall givePharaohan answerof peace.17And Pharaohsaidunto Joseph,In my dream,behold, I stoodupon the bankof the river:18And, behold, there came upout of the riversevenkine,fatfleshedand wellfavoured;and they fedin a meadow:19And, behold, sevenotherkinecame upafter them,poorand veryillfavouredand leanfleshed,suchas I neversawin all the landof Egyptfor badness:20And the leanand the ill favouredkinedid eat upthe firstsevenfatkine:21And when they had eaten them up,it could not be knownthat they had eaten them;but they [were] stillill favoured,as at the beginning.So I awoke.22And I sawin my dream,and, behold, sevenearscame upin onestalk,fulland good:23And, behold, sevenears,withered,thin,[and] blastedwith the east wind,sprung upafter them:24And the thinearsdevouredthe sevengoodears:and I told[this] unto the magicians;but [there was] none that could declare[it] to me. 25And Josephsaidunto Pharaoh,The dreamof Pharaoh[is] one:Godhath shewedPharaohwhat he [is] about to do.26The sevengoodkine[are] sevenyears;and the sevengoodears[are] sevenyears:the dream[is] one.27And the seventhinand ill favouredkinethat came upafter them[are] sevenyears;and the sevenemptyearsblastedwith the east windshall be sevenyearsof famine.28This [is] the thingwhich I have spokenunto Pharaoh:What God[is] about to dohe shewethunto Pharaoh.29Behold, there comesevenyearsof greatplentythroughout all the landof Egypt:30And there shall ariseafter themsevenyearsof famine;and all the plentyshall be forgottenin the landof Egypt;and the famineshall consumethe land;31And the plentyshall not be knownin the landby reasonof that faminefollowing;for it [shall be] verygrievous.32And for that the dreamwas doubledunto Pharaohtwice;[it is] because the thing[is] establishedbyGod,and Godwill shortlybring it to pass.33Now therefore let Pharaohlook outa mandiscreetand wise,and sethim over the landof Egypt.34Let Pharaohdo[this], and let him appointofficersover the land,and take up the fifth partof the landof Egyptin the sevenplenteousyears.35And let them gatherall the foodof those goodyearsthat come,and lay upcornunder the handof Pharaoh,and let them keepfoodin the cities.36And that foodshall be for storeto the landagainst the sevenyearsof famine,which shall be in the landof Egypt;that the landperishnot through the famine. Joseph Given Charge of Egypt 37And the thingwas goodin the eyesof Pharaoh,and in the eyesof all his servants. 38And Pharaohsaidunto his servants,Can we find[such a one] as this[is], a manin whomthe Spiritof God[is]?39And Pharaohsaidunto Joseph,Forasmuchas Godhath shewedthee all this, [there is] none so discreetand wiseas thou [art]:40Thou shalt beover my house,and according unto thy wordshall all my peoplebe ruled:only in the thronewill I be greaterthan thou.41And Pharaohsaidunto Joseph,See,I have setthee over all the landof Egypt.42And Pharaohtook offhis ringfrom his hand,and putit upon Joseph'shand,and arrayedhim in vesturesof fine linen,and puta goldchainabout his neck;43And he made him to ridein the secondchariotwhich he had; and they criedbefore him,Bow the knee:and he madehim [ruler] over all the landof Egypt.44And Pharaohsaidunto Joseph,I [am] Pharaoh,and withoutthee shall no manlift uphis handor footin all the landof Egypt.45And PharaohcalledJoseph'snameZaphnathpaaneah;and he gavehim to wifeAsenaththe daughterof Potipherahpriestof On.And Josephwent outover [all] the landof Egypt. The Seven Years of Plenty 46And Joseph[was] thirtyyearsoldwhen he stoodbeforePharaohkingof Egypt.And Josephwent outfrom the presenceof Pharaoh,and went throughoutall the landof Egypt.47And in the sevenplenteousyearsthe earthbrought forthby handfuls.48And he gathered upall the foodof the sevenyears,which were in the landof Egypt,and laid upthe foodin the cities:the foodof the field,which [was] round aboutevery city,laid he upin the same.49And Josephgatheredcornas the sandof the sea,verymuch,until he leftnumbering;for [it was] withoutnumber. The Sons of Joseph 50And unto Josephwere borntwosonsbefore the yearsof faminecame,which Asenaththe daughterof Potipherahpriestof Onbareunto him.51And Josephcalledthe nameof the firstbornManasseh:For God,[said he], hath made me forgetall my toil,and all my father'shouse.52And the nameof the secondcalledhe Ephraim:For Godhath caused me to be fruitfulin the landof my affliction. The Famine Begins 53And the sevenyearsof plenteousness,that was in the landof Egypt,were ended.54And the sevenyearsof dearthbeganto come,according as Josephhad said:and the dearthwas in all lands;but in all the landof Egyptthere was bread.55And when all the landof Egyptwas famished,the peoplecriedto Pharaohfor bread:and Pharaohsaidunto all the Egyptians,Gounto Joseph;what he saithto you, do.56And the faminewas over all the faceof the earth:And Josephopenedall the storehouses, and soldunto the Egyptians;and the faminewaxed sorein the landof Egypt.57And all countriescameinto Egyptto Josephfor to buy[corn]; because that the faminewas [so] sorein all lands. |
