Jacob Returns to Bethel
1And Godsaidunto Jacob,Arise,go upto Bethel,and dwellthere: and makethere an altarunto God,that appearedunto thee when thou fleddestfrom the faceof Esauthy brother.2Then Jacobsaidunto his household,and to all that [were] with him, Put awaythe strangegodsthat [are] among you,and be clean,and changeyour garments:3And let us arise,and go upto Bethel;and I will makethere an altarunto God,who answeredme in the dayof my distress,and was with me in the waywhich I went.4And they gaveunto Jacoball the strangegodswhich [were] in their hand,and [all their] earringswhich [were] in their ears;and Jacobhidthem under the oakwhich [was] by Shechem.
5And they journeyed:and the terrorof Godwas upon the citiesthat [were] round aboutthem, and they did not pursueafterthe sonsof Jacob.6So Jacobcameto Luz,which [is] in the landof Canaan,that [is], Bethel,he and all the peoplethat [were] with him.7And he builtthere an altar,and calledthe placeElbethel:because there Godappearedunto him, when he fledfrom the faceof his brother.8But DeborahRebekah'snursedied,and she was buriedbeneath Bethelunder an oak:and the nameof it was calledAllonbachuth.
Jacob is Named Israel
9And Godappearedunto Jacobagain, when he cameout of Padanaram,and blessedhim.
10And Godsaidunto him, Thy name[is] Jacob:thy nameshall not be calledany more Jacob,but Israelshall be thy name:and he calledhis nameIsrael.
11And Godsaidunto him, I [am] GodAlmighty:be fruitfuland multiply;a nationand a companyof nationsshall be of thee, and kingsshall comeout of thy loins;
12And the landwhich I gaveAbrahamand Isaac,to thee I will give it,and to thy seedafter theewill I givethe land.
13And Godwent upfrom him in the placewhere he talkedwith him.14And Jacobset upa pillarin the placewhere he talkedwith him, [even] a pillarof stone:and he poureda drink offeringthereon, and he pouredoilthereon.15And Jacobcalledthe nameof the placewhere Godspakewith him, Bethel.
Benjamin is Born, Rachel Dies
16And they journeyedfrom Bethel;and there was buta littlewayto cometo Ephrath:and Racheltravailed,and she had hardlabour.17And it came to pass, when she was in hardlabour,that the midwifesaidunto her, Fearnot; thou shalt have this sonalso.18And it came to pass, as her soulwas in departing,(for she died) that she calledhis nameBenoni:but his fathercalledhim Benjamin.19And Racheldied,and was buriedin the wayto Ephrath,which [is] Bethlehem.20And Jacobseta pillarupon her grave:that [is] the pillarof Rachel'sgraveunto this day.21And Israeljourneyed,and spreadhis tentbeyondthe towerof Edar.
The Sons of Jacob

22And it came to pass, when Israeldweltin that land,that Reubenwentand laywith Bilhahhis father'sconcubine:and Israelheard[it]. Now the sonsof Jacobwere twelve:23The sonsof Leah;Reuben,Jacob'sfirstborn,and Simeon,and Levi,and Judah,and Issachar,and Zebulun:24The sonsof Rachel;Joseph,and Benjamin:25And the sonsof Bilhah,Rachel'shandmaid;Dan,and Naphtali:26And the sonsof Zilpah,Leah'shandmaid;Gad,and Asher:these [are] the sonsof Jacob,which were bornto him in Padanaram.
The Death of Isaac
27And Jacobcameunto Isaachis fatherunto Mamre,unto the city of Arbah,which [is] Hebron,where Abrahamand Isaacsojourned.
28And the daysof Isaacwere an hundredand fourscoreyears.29And Isaacgave up the ghost,and died,and was gatheredunto his people,[being] oldand fullof days:and his sonsEsauand Jacobburiedhim.
