KJV + Strong's Jacob Meets Rachel 1Then Jacobwent onhis journey,and cameinto the landof the peopleof the east.2And he looked,and behold a wellin the field,and, lo, there [were] threeflocksof sheeplyingby it; for out of that wellthey wateredthe flocks:and a greatstone[was] upon the well'smouth.3And thither were all the flocksgathered:and they rolledthe stonefrom the well'smouth,and wateredthe sheep,and putthe stoneagainupon the well'smouthin his place. 4And Jacobsaidunto them, My brethren,whence[be] ye? And they said,Of Haran[are] we.5And he saidunto them, Knowye Labanthe sonof Nahor?And they said,We know[him].6And he saidunto them, [Is] he well?And they said,[He is] well:and, behold, Rachelhis daughtercomethwith the sheep.7And he said,Lo,[it is] yet highday,neither [is it] timethat the cattleshould be gathered together:waterye the sheep,and go[and] feed[them].8And they said,We cannot,until all the flocksbe gathered together,and [till] they rollthe stonefrom the well'smouth;then we waterthe sheep. 9And while he yetspakewith them, Rachelcamewith her father'ssheep:for she kept them.10And it came to pass, when JacobsawRachelthe daughterof Labanhis mother'sbrother,and the sheepof Labanhis mother'sbrother,that Jacobwent near,and rolledthe stonefrom the well'smouth,and wateredthe flockof Labanhis mother'sbrother.11And JacobkissedRachel,and lifted uphis voice,and wept.12And JacobtoldRachelthat he [was] her father'sbrother,and that he [was] Rebekah'sson:and she ranand toldher father. 13And it came to pass, when Labanheardthe tidingsof Jacobhis sister'sson,that he ranto meethim, and embracedhim, and kissedhim, and broughthim to his house.And he toldLabanall these things. Jacob Marries Leah and Rachel 14And Labansaidto him, Surelythou [art] my boneand my flesh.And he abodewith him the spaceof a month. 15And Labansaidunto Jacob,Because thou [art] my brother,shouldest thou therefore serveme for nought?tellme, what [shall] thy wages[be]?16And Labanhad twodaughters:the nameof the elder[was] Leah,and the nameof the younger[was] Rachel.17Leah[was] tendereyed;but Rachelwas beautifuland wellfavoured.18And JacoblovedRachel;and said,I will servethee sevenyearsfor Rachelthy youngerdaughter.19And Labansaid,[It is] betterthat I giveher to thee, than that I should giveher to anotherman:abidewith me.20And Jacobservedsevenyearsfor Rachel;and they seemedunto him [but] a fewdays,for the love he hadto her. 21And Jacobsaidunto Laban,Give[me] my wife,for my daysare fulfilled,that I may go inunto her.22And Labangathered togetherall the menof the place,and madea feast.23And it came to pass in the evening,that he tookLeahhis daughter,and broughther to him; and he went inunto her.24And Labangaveunto his daughterLeahZilpahhis maid[for] an handmaid.25And it came to pass, that in the morning,behold, it [was] Leah:and he saidto Laban,What [is] this thou hast doneunto me? did not I servewith thee for Rachel?wherefore then hast thou beguiledme?26And Labansaid,It must not be so donein our country,to givethe youngerbeforethe firstborn.27Fulfilherweek,and we will givethee this also for the servicewhich thou shalt servewith me yet sevenotheryears.28And Jacobdidso, and fulfilledher week:and he gavehim Rachelhis daughterto wifealso.29And Labangaveto Rachelhis daughterBilhahhis handmaidto be her maid.30And he went inalso unto Rachel,and he lovedalso Rachelmore than Leah,and servedwith him yet sevenotheryears. Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah 31And when the LORDsawthat Leah[was] hated,he openedher womb:but Rachel[was] barren.32And Leahconceived,and barea son,and she calledhis nameReuben:forshe said,Surelythe LORDhath lookedupon my affliction;now thereforemy husbandwill loveme.33And she conceivedagain, and barea son;and said,Because the LORDhath heardthat I [was] hated,he hath therefore givenme this [son] also: and she calledhis nameSimeon.34And she conceived again,and barea son;and said,Now this timewill my husbandbe joinedunto me, because I have bornhim threesons:therefore was his namecalledLevi.35And she conceivedagain, and barea son:and she said,Nowwill I praisethe LORD:therefore she calledhis nameJudah;and leftbearing. |
