KJV + Strong's Abraham's Celestial Visitors 1And the LORDappearedunto him in the plainsof Mamre:and he satin the tentdoorin the heatof the day;2And he lift uphis eyesand looked,and, lo, threemenstoodby him: and when he saw[them], he ranto meetthem from the tentdoor,and bowedhimself toward the ground,3And said,My Lord,if now I have foundfavourin thy sight,pass not away,I pray thee, from thy servant:4Let a littlewater,I pray you,be fetched,and washyour feet,and rest yourselvesunder the tree:5And I will fetcha morselof bread,and comfort yeyour hearts;after thatye shall pass on:for therefore are ye cometoyour servant.And they said,So do,as thou hast said.6And Abrahamhastenedinto the tentunto Sarah,and said,Make ready quicklythreemeasuresof finemeal,knead[it], and makecakesupon the hearth.7And Abrahamranunto the herd,and fetchta calftenderand good,and gave[it] unto a young man;and he hastedto dressit.8And he tookbutter,and milk,and the calfwhich he had dressed,and set[it] before them;and he stoodby them under the tree,and they did eat. Sarah Laughs at the Promise 9And they saidunto him, Where[is] Sarahthy wife?And he said,Behold, in the tent.10And he said,I will certainlyreturnunto thee according to the timeof life;and, lo, Sarahthy wifeshall have a son.And Sarahheard[it] in the tentdoor,which [was] behind him.11Now Abrahamand Sarah[were] old[and] well strickenin age;[and] it ceasedto be with Sarahafter the mannerof women.12Therefore Sarahlaughedwithin herself,saying,AfterI am waxed oldshall I have pleasure,my lordbeing old also?13And the LORDsaidunto Abraham,Whereforedid Sarahlaugh,saying,Shall I of a suretybeara child, whicham old?14Isany thingtoo hardfor the LORD?At the time appointedI will returnunto thee, according to the timeof life,and Sarahshall have a son.15Then Sarahdenied,saying,I laughednot; for she was afraid.And he said,Nay;but thou didst laugh. Abraham Begs for Sodom 16And the menrose upfrom thence, and lookedtowardSodom:and Abrahamwentwith them to bring them on the way.17And the LORDsaid,Shall I hidefrom Abrahamthat thing whichI do;18Seeing that Abrahamshall surely become a greatand mightynation,and all the nationsof the earthshall be blessedin him?19For I knowhim, thathe will commandhis childrenand his householdafter him,and they shall keepthe wayof the LORD,to dojusticeand judgment;that the LORDmay bringupon Abrahamthat which he hath spokenof him.20And the LORDsaid,Because the cryof Sodomand Gomorrahis great,and because their sinis verygrievous;21I will go downnow, and seewhether they have donealtogetheraccording to the cryof it, which is comeunto me; and if not, I will know. 22And the menturned their facesfrom thence, and wenttoward Sodom:but Abrahamstoodyetbeforethe LORD.23And Abrahamdrew near,and said,Wilt thou also destroythe righteouswiththe wicked?24Peradventure there befiftyrighteouswithinthe city:wilt thou also destroyand not sparethe placeforthe fiftyrighteousthat [are] therein?25That be farfrom thee to doafter this manner,to slaythe righteouswith the wicked:and that the righteousshould be as the wicked,that be farfrom thee: Shall not the Judgeof all the earthdoright?26And the LORDsaid,If I findin Sodomfiftyrighteouswithinthe city,then I will spareall the placefor their sakes.27And Abrahamansweredand said,Behold now, I have taken upon meto speakunto the Lord,which[am but] dustand ashes:28Peradventure there shall lackfiveof the fiftyrighteous:wilt thou destroyall the cityfor [lack of] five?And he said,If I findthere fortyand five,I will not destroy[it].29And he spakeunto him yet again,and said,Peradventure there shall be fortyfoundthere. And he said,I will not do[it] for forty'ssake.30And he said[unto him], Ohlet not the Lordbe angry,and I will speak:Peradventure there shall thirtybe foundthere. And he said,I will not do[it], if I findthirtythere.31And he said,Behold now, I have taken upon meto speakunto the Lord:Peradventure there shall be twentyfoundthere. And he said,I will not destroy[it] for twenty'ssake.32And he said,Oh let not the Lordbe angry,and I will speakyetbut this once:Peradventure tenshall be foundthere. And he said,I will not destroy[it] for ten'ssake.33And the LORDwent his way,as soon ashe had leftcommuningwith Abraham:and Abrahamreturnedunto his place. |
