(Daniel 1:1-7) 1And the whole earthwas of onelanguage,and of onespeech.2And it came to pass, as they journeyedfrom the east,that they founda plainin the landof Shinar;and they dweltthere.3And they saidoneto another,Go to,let us makebrick,and burnthem throughly.And they had brickfor stone,and slimehadthey for morter.4And they said,Go to,let us buildus a cityand a tower,whose top[may reach] unto heaven;and let us makeus a name,lest we be scattered abroadupon the faceof the whole earth.5And the LORDcame downto seethe cityand the tower,which the childrenof menbuilded.6And the LORDsaid,Behold, the people[is] one,and they have all onelanguage;and this they beginto do:and now nothingwill be restrainedfrom them, which they have imaginedto do.7Go to,let us go down,and there confoundtheir language,thatthey may not understandoneanother'sspeech.8So the LORDscattered them abroadfrom thenceupon the faceof all the earth:and they left offto buildthe city.9Therefore is the name of itcalledBabel;because the LORDdid there confoundthe languageof all the earth:and from thence didthe LORDscatter them abroadupon the faceof all the earth.
