The Beginning
(John 1:1-5)
1In the beginningGodcreatedthe heavenandthe earth.2And the earthwaswithout form,and void;and darkness[was] upon the faceof the deep.And the Spiritof Godmoveduponthe faceof the waters.
The First Day: Light
3And Godsaid,Let there belight:and there was light.4And Godsawthe light,that[it was] good:and Goddividedthe lightfromthe darkness.5And Godcalledthe lightDay,and the darknesshe calledNight.And the eveningand the morningwere the firstday.
The Second Day: Firmament
6And Godsaid,Let there be a firmamentin the midstof the waters,and let it dividethe watersfrom the waters.7And Godmadethe firmament,and dividedthe waterswhich[were] underthe firmamentfrom the waterswhich[were] abovethe firmament:and it was so.8And Godcalledthe firmamentHeaven.And the eveningand the morningwere the secondday.
The Third Day: Dry Ground
9And Godsaid,Let the watersunder the heavenbe gathered togetheruntooneplace,and let the dry[land] appear:and it was so.10And Godcalledthe dry[land] Earth;and the gathering togetherof the waterscalledhe Seas:and Godsawthat [it was] good.11And Godsaid,Let the earthbring forthgrass,the herbyieldingseed,[and] the fruittreeyieldingfruitafter his kind,whoseseed[is] in itself, upon the earth:and it was so.12And the earthbrought forthgrass,[and] herbyieldingseedafter his kind,and the treeyieldingfruit,whose seed[was] in itself, after his kind:and Godsawthat [it was] good.13And the eveningand the morningwere the thirdday.
The Fourth Day: Sun, Moon, Stars
14And Godsaid,Let there be lightsin the firmamentof the heavento dividethe dayfrom the night;and let them be for signs,and for seasons,and for days,and years:15And let them be for lightsin the firmamentof the heavento give lightupon the earth:and it was so.16And Godmadetwogreatlights;the greaterlightto rulethe day,and the lesserlightto rulethe night:[he made] the starsalso.17And Godsetthem in the firmamentof the heavento give lightupon the earth,18And to ruleover the dayand over the night,and to dividethe lightfrom the darkness:and Godsawthat [it was] good.19And the eveningand the morningwere the fourthday.
The Fifth Day: Fish and Birds
20And Godsaid,Let the watersbring forth abundantlythe moving creaturethat hathlife,and fowl[that] may flyabovethe earthin the openfirmamentof heaven.21And Godcreatedgreatwhales,and every livingcreaturethat moveth,which the watersbrought forth abundantly,after their kind,and every wingedfowlafter his kind:and Godsawthat [it was] good.22And Godblessedthem, saying,Be fruitful,and multiply,and fillthe watersin the seas,and let fowlmultiplyin the earth.23And the eveningand the morningwere the fifthday.
The Sixth Day: Creatures on Land
24And Godsaid,Let the earthbring forththe livingcreatureafter his kind,cattle,and creeping thing,and beastof the earthafter his kind:and it was so.25And Godmadethe beastof the earthafter his kind,and cattleafter their kind,and every thing that creepethupon the earthafter his kind:and Godsawthat [it was] good.
26And Godsaid,Let us makemanin our image,after our likeness:and let them have dominionover the fishof the sea,and over the fowlof the air,and over the cattle,and over all the earth,and over every creeping thingthat creepethupon the earth.27So Godcreatedmanin his [own] image,in the imageof Godcreatedhe him; maleand femalecreatedhe them.28And Godblessedthem, and Godsaidunto them, Be fruitful,and multiply,and replenishthe earth,and subdue it:and have dominionover the fishof the sea,and over the fowlof the air,and over every living thingthat movethupon the earth.29And Godsaid,Behold,I have givenyou every herbbearingseed,which [is] upon the faceof all the earth,and every tree,in the which [is] the fruitof a treeyieldingseed;to you it shall befor meat.30And to every beastof the earth,and to every fowlof the air,and to every thing that creepethupon the earth,wherein [there is] life,[I have given] every greenherbfor meat:and it was so.31And Godsawevery thing thathe had made,and, behold, [it was] verygood.And the eveningand the morningwere the sixthday.
