6And Pharaohcommandedthe same daythe taskmastersof the people, and their officers,saying,7Ye shall no moregivethe peoplestrawto makebrick,as heretofore:let them goand gatherstrawfor themselves.8And the taleof the bricks, which they did makeheretofore,ye shall layupon them; ye shall not diminish[ought] thereof: for they [be] idle;therefore they cry, saying,Let us go[and] sacrificeto our God.9Let there more workbe laidupon the men, that they may labourtherein; and let them not regardvainwords.

10And the taskmastersof the peoplewent out,and their officers, and they spaketo the people, saying,Thus saithPharaoh,I will not giveyou straw.11Goye, getyou strawwhereye can findit: yetnot oughtof your workshall be diminished.12So the peoplewere scattered abroadthroughout all the landof Egyptto gatherstubbleinstead of straw.13And the taskmastershasted[them], saying,Fulfilyour works,[your] dailytasks,as when there wasstraw.14And the officersof the childrenof Israel, which Pharaoh'staskmastershad setover them, were beaten,[and] demanded,Wherefore have ye not fulfilledyour taskin making brickboth yesterdayand to day,as heretofore?

15Then the officersof the childrenof Israelcameand criedunto Pharaoh, saying,Wherefore dealestthou thus with thy servants?16There is no strawgivenunto thy servants, and they sayto us, Makebrick:and, behold, thy servants[are] beaten;but the fault[is] in thine own people.17But he said,Ye [are] idle,[ye are] idle:therefore ye say,Let us go[and] do sacrificeto the LORD.18Gotherefore now, [and] work;for there shall no strawbe givenyou, yet shall ye deliverthe taleof bricks.19And the officersof the childrenof Israeldid see[that] they [were] in evil[case], after it was said,Ye shall not minish[ought] from your bricksof your dailytask.20And they metMosesand Aaron, who stoodin the way,as they came forthfrom Pharaoh:21And they saidunto them, The LORDlookupon you, and judge;because ye have made our savourto be abhorredin the eyesof Pharaoh, and in the eyesof his servants,to puta swordin their handto slayus.

22And Mosesreturnedunto the LORD,and said,Lord, wherefore hast thou [so] evil entreatedthis people?why [is] it [that] thou hast sentme?23For since I cameto Pharaohto speakin thy name,he hath done evilto this people;neither hast thou deliveredthy peopleat all.
