The Plague on the Firstborn Foretold
1And the LORDsaidunto Moses,Yet will I bringoneplague[more] upon Pharaoh,and upon Egypt;afterwardshe will let you gohence: when he shall let [you] go,he shall surelythrust you outhence altogether.2Speaknow in the earsof the people,and let every manborrowof his neighbour,and every womanof her neighbour,jewelsof silver,and jewelsof gold.3And the LORDgavethe peoplefavourin the sightof the Egyptians.Moreover the manMoses[was] verygreatin the landof Egypt,in the sightof Pharaoh'sservants,and in the sightof the people.
4And Mosessaid,Thus saiththe LORD,About midnightwill I go outinto the midstof Egypt:5And all the firstbornin the landof Egyptshall die,from the firstbornof Pharaohthat sittethupon his throne,even unto the firstbornof the maidservantthat [is] behindthe mill;and all the firstbornof beasts.6And there shall bea greatcrythroughout all the landof Egypt,such as there was nonelike it, norshall be like it any more.7But against any of the childrenof Israelshall not a dogmovehis tongue,against manor beast:that ye may knowhow that the LORDdoth put a differencebetween the Egyptiansand Israel.8And all these thy servantsshall come downunto me, and bow downthemselves unto me, saying,Get thee out,and all the peoplethat followthee: and afterthat I will go out.And he went outfrom Pharaohin a greatanger.
9And the LORDsaidunto Moses,Pharaohshall not hearkenunto you; that my wondersmay be multipliedin the landof Egypt.10And Mosesand Aarondidall these wondersbeforePharaoh:and the LORDhardenedPharaoh'sheart,so that he would not let the childrenof Israelgo outof his land.
