Cast Your Bread upon the Waters
1Castthy breaduponthe waters:for thou shalt findit after manydays.2Givea portionto seven, and also to eight;for thou knowestnot what evilshall be upon the earth.3If the cloudsbe fullof rain, they empty[themselves] upon the earth:and if the treefalltoward the south,or toward the north,in the placewhere the treefalleth, there it shall be.4He that observeththe windshall not sow;and he that regardeththe cloudsshall not reap.5As thou knowestnot what [is] the wayof the spirit,[nor] how the bones[do grow] in the wombof her that is with child:even so thou knowestnot the worksof Godwho makethall.
6In the morningsowthy seed, and in the eveningwithholdnot thine hand:for thou knowestnot whethershall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both[shall be] alikegood.
Enjoy Your Years
7Truly the light[is] sweet, and a pleasant[thing it is] for the eyesto beholdthe sun:8But if a manlivemanyyears,[and] rejoicein them all; yet let him rememberthe daysof darkness;for they shall be many. All that cometh[is] vanity.
9Rejoice,O young man,in thy youth;and let thy heartcheerthee in the daysof thy youth, and walkin the waysof thine heart, and in the sightof thine eyes:but knowthou, that for all these [things] Godwill bringthee into judgment.10Therefore removesorrowfrom thy heart, and put awayevilfrom thy flesh:for childhoodand youth[are] vanity.
