Casting out the Nations
1When the LORDthy Godshall bringthee into the landwhither thou goestto possessit, and hath cast outmanynationsbeforethee, the Hittites,and the Girgashites,and the Amorites,and the Canaanites,and the Perizzites,and the Hivites,and the Jebusites,sevennationsgreaterand mightierthan thou;2And when the LORDthy Godshall deliverthem beforethee; thou shalt smitethem, [and] utterlydestroythem; thou shalt makeno covenantwith them, nor shew mercyunto them:3Neither shalt thou make marriageswith them; thy daughterthou shalt not giveunto his son,nor his daughtershalt thou takeunto thy son.4For they will turn awaythy sonfrom followingme, that they may serveothergods:so will the angerof the LORDbe kindledagainst you, and destroythee suddenly.5But thus shall ye dealwith them; ye shall destroytheir altars,and break downtheir images,and cut downtheir groves,and burntheir graven imageswith fire.6For thou [art] an holypeopleunto the LORDthy God:the LORDthy Godhath chosenthee to be a specialpeopleunto himself, above all peoplethat [are] upon the faceof the earth.
7The LORDdid not set his loveupon you, nor chooseyou, because ye were morein number than any people;for ye [were] the fewestof all people:8But because the LORDlovedyou, and because he would keepthe oathwhich he had swornunto your fathers,hath the LORDbrought you outwith a mightyhand,and redeemedyou out of the houseof bondmen,from the handof Pharaohkingof Egypt.9Knowtherefore that the LORDthy God,he [is] God,the faithfulGod,which keepethcovenantand mercywith them that lovehim and keephis commandmentsto a thousandgenerations;10And repayeththem that hatehim to their face,to destroythem: he will not be slackto him that hatethhim, he will repayhim to his face.11Thou shalt therefore keepthe commandments,and the statutes,and the judgments,which I commandthee this day,to dothem.

12Wherefore it shall come to pass, ifye hearkento these judgments,and keep,and dothem, that the LORDthy Godshall keepunto thee the covenantand the mercywhich he swareunto thy fathers:13And he will lovethee, and blessthee, and multiplythee: he will also blessthe fruitof thy womb,and the fruitof thy land,thy corn,and thy wine,and thine oil,the increaseof thy kine,and the flocksof thy sheep,in the landwhich he swareunto thy fathersto givethee.14Thou shalt be blessedabove all people:there shall not be maleor female barrenamong you, or among your cattle.15And the LORDwill take awayfrom thee all sickness,and will putnone of the evildiseasesof Egypt,which thou knowest,upon thee; but will laythem upon all [them] that hatethee.16And thou shalt consumeall the peoplewhich the LORDthy Godshall deliverthee; thine eyeshall have no pityupon them: neither shalt thou servetheir gods;for that [will be] a snareunto thee.
17If thou shalt sayin thine heart,These nations[are] morethan I; howcanI dispossessthem?18Thou shalt not be afraidof them: [but] shalt wellrememberwhat the LORDthy Goddidunto Pharaoh,and unto all Egypt;19The greattemptationswhich thine eyessaw,and the signs,and the wonders,and the mightyhand,and the stretched outarm,whereby the LORDthy Godbrought thee out:so shall the LORDthy Goddounto all the peopleof whom thou art afraid.20Moreover the LORDthy Godwill sendthe hornetamong them, until they that are left,and hidethemselves fromthee, be destroyed.21Thou shalt not be affrightedatthem: for the LORDthy God[is] amongyou, a mightyGodand terrible.22And the LORDthy Godwill put outthosenationsbeforethee by littleand little:thou mayestnot consumethem at once,lest the beastsof the fieldincreaseupon thee.23But the LORDthy Godshall deliverthem unto thee,and shall destroythem with a mightydestruction,until they be destroyed.24And he shall delivertheir kingsinto thine hand,and thou shalt destroytheir namefrom under heaven:there shall no manbe able to standbeforethee, until thou have destroyedthem.25The graven imagesof their godsshall ye burnwith fire:thou shalt not desirethe silveror gold[that is] on them, nor take[it] unto thee, lest thou be snaredtherein: for it [is] an abominationto the LORDthy God.26Neither shalt thou bringan abominationinto thine house,lest thou be a cursed thinglike it: [but] thou shalt utterlydetestit, and thou shalt utterlyabhorit; for it [is] a cursed thing.
