Detestable Sacrifices

1Thou shalt not sacrificeunto the LORDthy God[any] bullock,or sheep,wherein is blemish,[or] any evilfavouredness:for that [is] an abominationunto the LORDthy God.

Purge the Idolater

2If there be foundamongyou, within anyof thy gateswhich the LORDthy Godgiveththee, manor woman,that hath wroughtwickednessin the sightof the LORDthy God,in transgressinghis covenant,3And hath goneand servedothergods,and worshippedthem, either the sun,or moon,or any of the hostof heaven,which I have not commanded;4And it be toldthee, and thou hast heard[of it], and enquireddiligently,and, behold, [it be] TRUE,[and] the thingcertain,[that] such abominationis wroughtin Israel:5Then shalt thou bring forththat manor that woman,which have committedthat wickedthing,unto thy gates,[even] that manor that woman,and shalt stonethem with stones,till they die.6At the mouthof twowitnesses,or threewitnesses,shall he that is worthy of deathbe put to death;[but] at the mouthof onewitnesshe shall not be put to death.7The handsof the witnessesshall be firstupon him to put him to death,and afterwardthe handsof all the people.So thou shalt putthe evilawayfrom amongyou.

Courts of Law

8If there arise a mattertoo hardfor thee in judgment,between bloodand blood,between pleaand plea,and between strokeand stroke,[being] mattersof controversywithin thy gates:then shalt thou arise,and get thee upinto the placewhich the LORDthy Godshall choose;9And thou shalt comeunto the prieststhe Levites,and unto the judgethat shall be in those days,and enquire;and they shall shewthee the sentenceof judgment:10And thou shalt doaccording to the sentence,which they of that placewhich the LORDshall chooseshall shewthee; and thou shalt observeto doaccording to all that they informthee:11According to the sentenceof the lawwhich they shall teachthee, and according to the judgmentwhich they shall tellthee, thou shalt do:thou shalt not declinefrom the sentencewhich they shall shewthee, [to] the right hand,nor [to] the left.12And the manthat will dopresumptuously,and will not hearkenunto the priestthat standethto ministerthere before the LORDthy God,or unto the judge,even that manshall die:and thou shalt put awaythe evilfrom Israel.13And all the peopleshall hear,and fear,and do no more presumptuously.

Election and Duties of Kings

14When thou art comeunto the landwhich the LORDthy Godgiveththee, and shalt possessit, and shalt dwelltherein, and shalt say,I will seta kingover me, like as all the nationsthat [are] aboutme;15Thou shalt in any wiseset[him] kingover thee, whom the LORDthy Godshall choose:[one] from amongthy brethrenshalt thou setkingover thee: thou mayestnot seta strangerover thee, which [is] not thy brother.16But he shall not multiplyhorsesto himself, nor cause the peopleto returnto Egypt,to the end that he should multiplyhorses:forasmuch as the LORDhath saidunto you, Ye shall henceforthreturnno more that way.17Neither shall he multiplywivesto himself, that his heartturnnot away: neither shall he greatlymultiplyto himself silverand gold.

18And it shall be, when he sittethupon the throneof his kingdom,that he shall writehim a copyof this lawin a bookout of [that which is] beforethe prieststhe Levites:19And it shall be with him, and he shall readtherein all the daysof his life:that he may learnto fearthe LORDhis God,to keepall the wordsof this lawand these statutes,to dothem:20That his heartbe not lifted upabove his brethren,and that he turn not asidefrom the commandment,[to] the right hand,or [to] the left:to the end that he may prolong[his] daysin his kingdom,he, and his children,in the midstof Israel.
