(Joshua 1:1-9) 8Therefore shall ye keepall the commandmentswhichI commandyou this day,that ye may be strong,and go inand possessthe land,whither ye goto possessit;9And that ye may prolong[your] daysin the land,which the LORDswareunto your fathersto giveunto them and to their seed,a landthat flowethwith milkand honey.10For the land,whither thou goest into possessit, [is] not as the landof Egypt,from whence ye came out,where thou sowedstthy seed,and wateredst[it] with thy foot,as a gardenof herbs:11But the land,whither ye goto possessit, [is] a landof hillsand valleys,[and] drinkethwaterof the rainof heaven:12A landwhich the LORDthy Godcareth for:the eyesof the LORDthy God[are] alwaysupon it, from the beginningof the yeareven unto the endof the year. 13And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearkendiligentlyunto my commandmentswhich I commandyou this day,to lovethe LORDyour God,and to servehim with all your heartand with all your soul,14That I will give[you] the rainof your landin his due season,the first rainand the latter rain,that thou mayest gatherin thy corn,and thy wine,and thine oil.15And I will sendgrassin thy fieldsfor thy cattle,that thou mayest eatand be full.16Take heedto yourselves, that your heartbe not deceived,and ye turn aside,and serveothergods,and worshipthem;17And [then] the LORD'Swrathbe kindledagainst you, and he shut upthe heaven,that there be no rain,and that the landyieldnot her fruit;and [lest] ye perishquicklyfrom off the goodlandwhich the LORDgivethyou. Remember God's Words 18Therefore shall ye lay upthese my wordsin your heartand in your soul,and bindthem for a signupon your hand,that they may be as frontletsbetween your eyes.19And ye shall teachthem your children,speakingof them when thou sittestin thine house,and when thou walkestby the way,when thou liestdown, and when thou risest up.20And thou shalt writethem upon the door postsof thine house,and upon thy gates:21That your daysmay be multiplied,and the daysof your children,in the landwhich the LORDswareunto your fathersto givethem, as the daysof heavenupon the earth.22For if ye shall diligentlykeepall these commandmentswhich I commandyou, to dothem, to lovethe LORDyour God,to walkin all his ways,and to cleaveunto him;23Then will the LORDdrive outall these nationsfrom beforeyou, and ye shall possessgreaternationsand mightierthan yourselves.24Every placewhereon the solesof your feetshall treadshall be yours: from the wildernessand Lebanon,from the river,the riverEuphrates,even unto the uttermostseashall your coastbe.25There shall no manbe able to standbeforeyou: [for] the LORDyour Godshall laythe fearof you and the dreadof you uponall the landthat ye shall treadupon, as he hath saidunto you. A Blessing and a Curse 26Behold,I setbeforeyou this daya blessingand a curse;27A blessing,if ye obeythe commandmentsof the LORDyour God,which I commandyou this day:28And a curse,if ye will not obeythe commandmentsof the LORDyour God,but turn asideout of the waywhich I commandyou this day,to goafterothergods,which ye have not known. 29And it shall come to pass, when the LORDthy Godhath brought thee inunto the landwhither thou goestto possessit, that thou shalt putthe blessingupon mountGerizim,and the curseupon mountEbal.30[Are] they not on the other sideJordan,bythe waywhere the sungoeth down,in the landof the Canaanites,which dwellin the champaignover againstGilgal,besidethe plainsof Moreh?31For ye shall pass overJordanto go into possessthe landwhich the LORDyour Godgivethyou, and ye shall possessit, and dwelltherein.32And ye shall observeto doall the statutesand judgmentswhich I setbeforeyou this day. |
