Witnesses against Israel
1Hearthis wordthat the LORDhath spokenagainst you, O childrenof Israel,against the whole familywhich I brought upfrom the landof Egypt,saying,
2You only have I knownof all the familiesof the earth:therefore I will punishyou for all your iniquities.
3Can twowalktogether,exceptthey be agreed?
4Will a lionroarin the forest,when he hath no prey?will a young lioncry outof his den,if he have takennothing?
5Can a birdfallin a snareupon the earth,where no gin[is] for him? shall [one] take upa snarefrom the earth,and have takennothing at all?
6Shall a trumpetbe blownin the city,and the peoplenot be afraid?shall there be evilin a city,and the LORDhath not done[it]?
7Surely the LordGODwill donothing,but he revealethhis secretunto his servantsthe prophets.
8The lionhath roared,who will notfear?the LordGODhath spoken,who can but prophesy?
9Publishin the palacesat Ashdod,and in the palacesin the landof Egypt,and say,Assembleyourselves upon the mountainsof Samaria,and beholdthe greattumultsin the midstthereof, and the oppressedin the midstthereof.10For they knownot to doright,saiththe LORD,who storeup violenceand robberyin their palaces.
11Therefore thus saiththe LordGOD;An adversary[there shall be] even round aboutthe land;and he shall bring downthy strengthfrom thee, and thy palacesshall be spoiled.
12Thus saiththe LORD;As the shepherdtaketh outof the mouthof the liontwolegs,or a pieceof an ear;so shall the childrenof Israelbe taken outthat dwellin Samariain the cornerof a bed,and in Damascus[in] a couch.
13Hearye, and testifyin the houseof Jacob,saiththe LordGOD,the Godof hosts,
14That in the daythat I shall visitthe transgressionsof Israelupon him I will also visitthe altarsof Bethel:and the hornsof the altarshall be cut off,and fallto the ground.
15And I will smitethe winterhousewith the summerhouse;and the housesof ivoryshall perish,and the greathousesshall have an end,saiththe LORD.
