(1 Timothy 3:8-13) 1Andinthosedays,when the numberof the discipleswas multiplied,there arosea murmuringof the Greciansagainstthe Hebrews,becausetheirwidowswere neglectedinthe dailyministration.2Thenthe twelvecalledthe multitudeof the disciples[unto them], and said,It isnotreasonthat weshould leavethe wordof God,and servetables.3Wherefore,brethren,look ye outamongyousevenmenof honest report,fullof the HolyGhostandwisdom,whomwe may appointoverthisbusiness.4Butwewill give ourselves continuallyto prayer,andto the ministryof the word.5Andthe sayingpleasedthe wholemultitude:andthey choseStephen,a manfullof faithandof the HolyGhost,andPhilip,andProchorus,andNicanor,andTimon,andParmenas,andNicolasa proselyteof Antioch:6Whomthey setbeforethe apostles:andwhen they had prayed,they laid[their] handsonthem. 7Andthe wordof Godincreased;andthe numberof the disciplesmultipliedinJerusalemgreatly;anda greatcompanyof the priestswere obedientto the faith.
