Paul's Arrival at Jerusalem 17Andwhen wewere cometoJerusalem,the brethrenreceivedusgladly.18Andthe [day] followingPaulwent inwithusuntoJames;andallthe elderswere present.19Andwhen he had salutedthem,he declaredparticularlywhat thingsGodhad wroughtamongthe Gentilesbyhisministry.20Andwhen they heard[it], they glorifiedthe Lord,andsaidunto him,Thou seest,brother,how manythousandsof Jewsthere arewhichbelieve;andthey areallzealousof the law:21Andthey are informedofthee,thatthou teachestallthe Jewswhich are amongthe GentilestoforsakeMoses,sayingthat theyoughtnotto circumcise[their] children,neitherto walkafter the customs.22Whatis ittherefore?the multitudemustneedscome together:forthey will hearthatthou art come.23Dothereforethisthatwe sayto thee:Wehavefourmenwhich havea vowonthem;24Themtake,and purify thyselfwiththem,andbe at chargeswiththem,thatthey may shave[their] heads:andallmay knowthat those things,whereofthey were informedconcerningthee,arenothing;but[that] thou thyselfalsowalkest orderly,and keepestthe law.25Astouchingthe Gentileswhich believe,wehave written[and] concludedthat theyobservenosuch thing,save onlythat they keepthemselvesfrom[things] offered to idols,andfrom blood,andfrom strangled,andfrom fornication.26ThenPaultookthe men,and the nextdaypurifying himselfwiththementeredintothe temple,to signifythe accomplishmentof the daysof purification,untilthatan offeringshould be offeredforeveryoneof them. Paul Seized in the Temple 27Andwhenthe sevendayswere almostended,the Jewswhich were ofAsia,when they sawhiminthe temple,stirred upallthe people,andlaidhandsonhim,28Crying out,Menof Israel,help:Thisisthe man,that teachethall[men] every whereagainstthe people,andthe law,andthisplace:andfurtherbroughtGreeksalsointothe temple,andhath pollutedthisholyplace.29(Forthey hadseen beforewithhiminthe cityTrophimusan Ephesian,whomthey supposedthatPaulhad broughtintothe temple.)30Andallthe citywas moved,andthe peopleran together:andthey tookPaul,and drewhimout ofthe temple:andforthwiththe doorswere shut.31Andas they went aboutto killhim,tidingscameunto the chief captainof the band,thatallJerusalemwas in an uproar.32Whoimmediatelytooksoldiersandcenturions,and ran downuntothem:andwhen they sawthe chief captainandthe soldiers,they leftbeatingof Paul.33Thenthe chief captaincame near,and tookhim,andcommanded[him] to be bound withtwochains;anddemandedwhohe was,andwhathe haddone.34Andsomecriedone thing,some another,amongthe multitude:andwhen he couldnotknowthe certaintyforthe tumult,he commandedhimto be carriedintothe castle.35Andwhenhe cameuponthe stairs,so it was,that he was borneofthe soldiersforthe violenceof the people.36Forthe multitudeof the peoplefollowed after,crying,Awaywith him.
