(1 Chronicles 11:1-3) 1Then cameall the tribesof Israelto Davidunto Hebron,and spake,saying,Behold, we [are] thy boneand thy flesh.2Also in time past,when Saulwas kingover us, thou wast he that leddest outand broughtest inIsrael:and the LORDsaidto thee, Thou shalt feedmy peopleIsrael,and thou shalt be a captainover Israel.3So all the eldersof Israelcameto the kingto Hebron;and kingDavidmadea leaguewith them in Hebronbeforethe LORD:and they anointedDavidkingover Israel.4David[was] thirtyyearsoldwhen he began to reign,[and] he reignedfortyyears.5In Hebronhe reignedover Judahsevenyearsand sixmonths:and in Jerusalemhe reignedthirtyand threeyearsover all Israeland Judah. (1 Chronicles 11:4-9) 6And the kingand his menwentto Jerusalemunto the Jebusites,the inhabitantsof the land:which spakeunto David,saying,Except thou take awaythe blindand the lame,thou shalt not come inhither: thinking,Davidcannot come inhither.7Nevertheless Davidtookthe strong holdof Zion:the same [is] the cityof David.8And Davidsaidon that day,Whosoever getteth upto the gutter,and smiteththe Jebusites,and the lameand the blind,[that are] hatedof David'ssoul,[he shall be chief and captain]. Wherefore they said,The blindand the lameshall not comeinto the house.9So Daviddweltin the fort,and calledit the cityof David.And Davidbuiltround aboutfrom Milloand inward.10And Davidwenton,and grew great,and the LORDGodof hosts[was] with him. 11And Hiramkingof Tyresentmessengersto David,and cedartrees,and carpenters,and masons:and they builtDavidan house. (1 Chronicles 14:1-7) 12And Davidperceivedthat the LORDhad establishedhim kingover Israel,and that he had exaltedhis kingdomfor his peopleIsrael'ssake. 13And Davidtook[him] more concubinesand wivesout of Jerusalem,afterhe was comefrom Hebron:and there were yet sonsand daughtersbornto David.14And these [be] the namesof those that were bornunto him in Jerusalem;Shammua,and Shobab,and Nathan,and Solomon,15Ibharalso, and Elishua,and Nepheg,and Japhia,16And Elishama,and Eliada,and Eliphalet. (1 Chronicles 14:8-17) 17But when the Philistinesheardthat they had anointedDavidkingover Israel,all the Philistinescame upto seekDavid;and Davidheard[of it], and went downto the hold.18The Philistinesalso cameand spreadthemselves in the valleyof Rephaim.19And Davidenquiredof the LORD,saying,Shall I go upto the Philistines?wilt thou deliverthem into mine hand?And the LORDsaidunto David,Go up:for I will doubtlessdeliverthe Philistinesinto thine hand.20And Davidcameto Baalperazim,and Davidsmotethem there, and said,The LORDhath broken forthupon mine enemiesbeforeme, as the breachof waters.Therefore he calledthe nameof that placeBaalperazim.21And there they lefttheir images,and Davidand his menburnedthem. 22And the Philistinescame upyet again,and spreadthemselves in the valleyof Rephaim.23And when Davidenquiredof the LORD,he said,Thou shalt not go up;[but] fetch a compassbehindthem, and comeupon them over againstthe mulberry trees.24And let it be, when thou hearestthe soundof a goingin the topsof the mulberry trees,that then thou shalt bestirthyself: for then shall the LORDgo outbeforethee, to smitethe hostof the Philistines.25And Daviddid so,as the LORDhad commandedhim; and smotethe Philistinesfrom Gebauntil thou cometo Gazer. |
