1Then spakeElishaunto the woman,whose sonhe had restored to life,saying,Arise,and gothou and thine household,and sojournwheresoeverthou canst sojourn:for the LORDhath calledfor a famine;and it shall also comeupon the landsevenyears.2And the womanarose,and didafter the sayingof the manof God:and she wentwith her household,and sojournedin the landof the Philistinessevenyears.3And it came to pass at the sevenyears'end,that the womanreturnedout of the landof the Philistines:and she went forthto cryunto the kingfor her houseand for her land.4And the kingtalkedwith Gehazithe servantof the manof God,saying,Tellme, I pray thee, all the great thingsthat Elishahath done.5And it came to pass, as he was tellingthe kinghow he had restoreda dead bodyto life,that, behold, the woman,whose sonhe had restored to life,criedto the kingfor her houseand for her land.And Gehazisaid,My lord,O king,this [is] the woman,and this [is] her son,whom Elisharestored to life.6And when the kingaskedthe woman,she toldhim. So the kingappointedunto her a certainofficer,saying,Restoreall that [was] hers, and all the fruitsof the fieldsince the daythat she leftthe land,even until now.

Hazael Murders Ben-Hadad

7And Elishacameto Damascus;and Benhadadthe kingof Syriawas sick;and it was toldhim, saying,The manof Godis comehither.8And the kingsaidunto Hazael,Takea presentin thine hand,and go,meetthe manof God,and enquireof the LORDby him, saying,Shall I recoverof this disease?9So Hazaelwentto meethim, and tooka presentwith him,even of every good thingof Damascus,fortycamels'burden,and cameand stoodbeforehim, and said,Thy sonBenhadadkingof Syriahath sentme to thee, saying,Shall I recoverof this disease?10And Elishasaidunto him, Go,sayunto him, Thou mayest certainlyrecover:howbeit the LORDhath shewedme that he shall surelydie.11And he settledhis countenancestedfastly,until he was ashamed:and the manof Godwept.12And Hazaelsaid,Why weepethmy lord?And he answered,Because I knowthe evilthat thou wilt dounto the childrenof Israel:their strong holdswilt thou seton fire,and their young menwilt thou slaywith the sword,and wilt dashtheir children,and rip uptheir women with child.13And Hazaelsaid,But what, [is] thy servanta dog,that he should dothis greatthing?And Elishaanswered,The LORDhath shewedme that thou [shalt be] kingover Syria.14So he departedfrom Elisha,and cameto his master;who saidto him, What saidElishato thee? And he answered,He toldme [that] thou shouldest surelyrecover.15And it came to pass on the morrow,that he tooka thick cloth,and dipped[it] in water,and spread[it] on his face,so that he died:and Hazaelreignedin his stead.

16And in the fifthyearof Joramthe sonof Ahabkingof Israel,Jehoshaphat[being] then kingof Judah,Jehoramthe sonof Jehoshaphatkingof Judahbegan to reign.17Thirtyand twoyearsoldwas he when he began to reign;and he reignedeightyearsin Jerusalem.18And he walkedin the wayof the kingsof Israel,as didthe houseof Ahab:for the daughterof Ahabwas his wife:and he didevilin the sightof the LORD.19Yet the LORDwouldnot destroyJudahfor Davidhis servant'ssake, as he promisedhim to givehim alwaya light,[and] to his children.

20In his daysEdomrevoltedfrom under the handof Judah,and madea kingover themselves.21So Joramwent overto Zair,and all the chariotswith him: and he roseby night,and smotethe Edomiteswhich compassed him about,and the captainsof the chariots:and the peoplefledinto their tents.22Yet Edomrevoltedfrom under the handof Judahunto this day.Then Libnahrevoltedat the sametime.23And the restof the actsof Joram,and all that he did,[are] they not writtenin the bookof the chroniclesof the kingsof Judah?

24And Joramsleptwith his fathers,and was buriedwith his fathersin the cityof David:and Ahaziahhis sonreignedin his stead.

Ahaziah Reigns Wickedly in Judah

25In the twelfthyearof Joramthe sonof Ahabkingof Israeldid Ahaziahthe sonof Jehoramkingof Judahbegin to reign.26Twoand twentyyearsold[was] Ahaziahwhen he began to reign;and he reignedoneyearin Jerusalem.And his mother'sname[was] Athaliah,the daughterof Omrikingof Israel.27And he walkedin the wayof the houseof Ahab,and didevilin the sightof the LORD,as [did] the houseof Ahab:for he [was] the son in lawof the houseof Ahab.

28And he wentwith Joramthe sonof Ahabto the waragainst Hazaelkingof Syriain Ramothgilead;and the SyrianswoundedJoram.29And kingJoramwent backto be healedin Jezreelof the woundswhich the Syrianshad givenhim at Ramah,when he foughtagainst Hazaelkingof Syria.And Ahaziahthe sonof Jehoramkingof Judahwent downto seeJoramthe sonof Ahabin Jezreel,because he was sick.
