4And Meshakingof Moabwas a sheepmaster, and renderedunto the kingof Israelan hundredthousandlambs, and an hundredthousandrams, with the wool.5But it came to pass, when Ahabwas dead, that the kingof Moabrebelledagainst the kingof Israel.6And kingJehoramwent outof Samariathe same time, and numberedall Israel.7And he wentand sentto Jehoshaphatthe kingof Judah, saying,The kingof Moabhath rebelledagainst me: wilt thou gowith me against Moabto battle? And he said,I will go up:I [am] as thou [art], my peopleas thy people,[and] my horsesas thy horses.8And he said,Which wayshall we go up?And he answered,The waythrough the wildernessof Edom.

9So the kingof Israelwent, and the kingof Judah, and the kingof Edom:and they fetched a compassof sevendays'journey:and there was no waterfor the host, and for the cattlethat followedthem.10And the kingof Israelsaid,Alas!that the LORDhath calledthese threekingstogether,to deliverthem into the handof Moab!11But Jehoshaphatsaid,[Is there] not here a prophetof the LORD,that we may enquireof the LORDby him? And oneof the kingof Israel'sservantsansweredand said,Here [is] Elishathe sonof Shaphat, which pouredwateron the handsof Elijah.12And Jehoshaphatsaid,The wordof the LORDiswith him. So the kingof Israeland Jehoshaphatand the kingof Edomwent downto him.

13And Elishasaidunto the kingof Israel,What have I to do with thee? getthee to the prophetsof thy father, and to the prophetsof thy mother. And the kingof Israelsaidunto him, Nay: for the LORDhath calledthese threekingstogether,to deliverthem into the handof Moab.14And Elishasaid,[As] the LORDof hostsliveth, beforewhom I stand, surely, were it not thatI regardthe presenceof Jehoshaphatthe kingof Judah,I would not looktoward thee, nor seethee.15But now bringme a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrelplayed, that the handof the LORDcame upon him.16And he said,Thus saiththe LORD,Makethis valleyfull of ditches.17For thus saiththe LORD,Ye shall not seewind, neither shall ye seerain;yet that valleyshall be filledwith water, that ye may drink, both ye, and your cattle, and your beasts.18And this is [but] a light thingin the sightof the LORD:he will deliverthe Moabitesalso into your hand.19And ye shall smiteevery fencedcity, and every choicecity, and shall fellevery goodtree, and stopall wellsof water, and marevery goodpieceof land with stones.20And it came to pass in the morning, when the meat offeringwas offered, that, behold, there camewaterby the wayof Edom, and the countrywas filledwith water.

21And when all the Moabitesheardthat the kingswere come upto fightagainst them, they gatheredall that were able to puton armour, and upward, and stoodin the border.22And they rose up earlyin the morning, and the sunshoneupon the water, and the Moabitessawthe wateron the other side[as] redas blood:23And they said,This [is] blood:the kingsare surelyslain, and they have smittenoneanother:now therefore, Moab,to the spoil.24And when they cameto the campof Israel, the Israelitesrose upand smotethe Moabites,so that they fledbeforethem: but they went forwardsmitingthe Moabites, even in [their] country.25And they beat downthe cities, and on every goodpieceof land castevery manhis stone, and filledit; and they stoppedall the wellsof water, and felledall the goodtrees:only in Kirharasethleftthey the stonesthereof; howbeit the slingerswent about[it], and smoteit.26And when the kingof Moabsawthat the battlewas too sorefor him, he tookwith him sevenhundredmenthat drewswords,to break through[even] unto the kingof Edom:but they couldnot.27Then he tookhis eldestsonthat should have reignedin his stead, and offeredhim [for] a burnt offeringupon the wall. And there was greatindignationagainst Israel:and they departedfrom him, and returnedto [their own] land.
