Solomon's Additional Accomplishments

(1 Kings 9:15-28)

1And it came to pass at the endof twentyyears,wherein Solomonhad builtthe houseof the LORD,and his own house,2That the citieswhich Huramhad restoredto Solomon,Solomonbuiltthem, and caused the childrenof Israelto dwellthere.

3And Solomonwentto Hamathzobah,and prevailedagainst it.4And he builtTadmorin the wilderness,and all the storecities,which he builtin Hamath.5Also he builtBethhoronthe upper,and Bethhoronthe nether,fencedcities,with walls,gates,and bars;6And Baalath,and all the storecitiesthat Solomonhad, and all the chariotcities,and the citiesof the horsemen,and all that Solomondesiredto buildin Jerusalem,and in Lebanon,and throughout all the landof his dominion.

7[As for] all the people[that were] leftof the Hittites,and the Amorites,and the Perizzites,and the Hivites,and the Jebusites,which [were] not of Israel,8[But] of their children,who were leftafterthem in the land,whom the childrenof Israelconsumednot, them did Solomonmake to paytributeuntil this day.9But of the childrenof Israeldid Solomonmakeno servantsfor his work;but they [were] menof war,and chiefof his captains,and captainsof his chariotsand horsemen.10And these [were] the chiefof kingSolomon'sofficers{08675;05333>, [even] two hundredand fifty,that bare ruleover the people.

11And Solomonbrought upthe daughterof Pharaohout of the cityof Davidunto the housethat he had builtfor her: for he said,My wifeshall not dwellin the houseof Davidkingof Israel,because [the places are] holy,whereunto the arkof the LORDhath come.

12Then Solomonofferedburnt offeringsunto the LORDon the altarof the LORD,which he had builtbeforethe porch,13Even after a certain rateevery day,offeringaccording to the commandmentof Moses,on the sabbaths,and on the new moons,and on the solemn feasts,threetimesin the year,[even] in the feastof unleavened bread,and in the feastof weeks,and in the feastof tabernacles.

14And he appointed,according to the orderof Davidhis father,the coursesof the prieststo their service,and the Levitesto their charges,to praiseand ministerbefore the priests,as the dutyof every dayrequired:the portersalso by their coursesat every gate:for so had Davidthe manof Godcommanded.15And they departednot from the commandmentof the kingunto the priestsand Levitesconcerning any matter,or concerning the treasures.

16Now all the workof Solomonwas preparedunto the dayof the foundationof the houseof the LORD,and until it was finished.[So] the houseof the LORDwas perfected.

17Then wentSolomonto Eziongeber,and to Eloth,at the seasidein the landof Edom.18And Huramsenthim by the handsof his servantsships,and servantsthat had knowledgeof the sea;and they wentwith the servantsof Solomonto Ophir,and tookthence fourhundredand fiftytalentsof gold,and brought[them] to kingSolomon.
