(1 Kings 6:1-4) 1Then Solomonbeganto buildthe houseof the LORDat Jerusalemin mountMoriah,where [the LORD] appearedunto Davidhis father,in the placethat Davidhad preparedin the threshingfloorof Ornanthe Jebusite.2And he beganto buildin the second[day] of the secondmonth,in the fourthyearof his reign. Dimensions and Materials 3Now these [are the things wherein] Solomonwas instructedfor the buildingof the houseof God.The lengthby cubitsafter the firstmeasure[was] threescorecubits,and the breadthtwentycubits.4And the porchthat [was] in the front[of the house], the length[of it was] according to the breadthof the house,twentycubits,and the height[was] an hundredand twenty:and he overlaidit withinwith puregold.5And the greaterhousehe cieledwith firtree,which he overlaidwith finegold,and setthereon palm treesand chains.6And he garnishedthe housewith preciousstonesfor beauty:and the gold[was] goldof Parvaim.7He overlaidalso the house,the beams,the posts,and the wallsthereof, and the doorsthereof, with gold;and gravedcherubimson the walls. 8And he madethe mostholyhouse,the lengthwhereof [was] according tothe breadthof the house,twentycubits,and the breadththereof twentycubits:and he overlaidit with finegold,[amounting] to sixhundredtalents.9And the weightof the nails[was] fiftyshekelsof gold.And he overlaidthe upper chamberswith gold. 10And in the mostholyhousehe madetwocherubimsof imagework,and overlaidthem with gold. (1 Kings 6:23-30) 11And the wingsof the cherubims[were] twentycubitslong:onewing[of the one cherub was] fivecubits,reachingto the wallof the house:and the otherwing[was likewise] fivecubits,reachingto the wingof the othercherub.12And [one] wingof the othercherub[was] fivecubits,reachingto the wallof the house:and the otherwing[was] fivecubits[also], joiningto the wingof the othercherub.13The wingsof these cherubimsspread themselves forthtwentycubits:and they stoodon their feet,and their faces[were] inward. The Veil and Pillars 14And he madethe vail[of] blue,and purple,and crimson,and fine linen,and wroughtcherubimsthereon. 15Also he madebeforethe housetwopillarsof thirtyand fivecubitshigh,and the chapiterthat [was] on the topof each of them [was] fivecubits.16And he madechains,[as] in the oracle,and put[them] on the headsof the pillars;and madean hundredpomegranates,and put[them] on the chains.17And he reared upthe pillarsbeforethe temple,oneon the right hand,and the otheron the left;and calledthe nameof that on the right handJachin,and the nameof that on the leftBoaz. |
