Children of God
1Behold,what mannerof lovethe Fatherhath bestowedupon us,thatwe should be calledthe sonsof God:thereforethe worldknowethusnot,becauseit knewhimnot.2Beloved,noware wethe sonsof God,andit dothnot yetappearwhatwe shall be:butwe knowthat,whenhe shall appear,we shall belikehim;forwe shall seehimashe is.3Andevery manthat haththishopeinhimpurifiethhimself,even asheispure.
4Whosoevercommittethsintransgressethalsothe law:forsinisthe transgression of the law.5Andye knowthathewas manifestedtotake awayoursins;andinhimisnosin.6Whosoeverabidethinhimsinnethnot:whosoeversinnethhathnotseenhim,neitherknownhim.7Little children,letno mandeceiveyou:he that doethrighteousnessisrighteous,even asheisrighteous.8He that committethsinisofthe devil;forthe devilsinnethfromthe beginning.Forthis purposethe Sonof Godwas manifested,thathe might destroythe worksof the devil.9Whosoeveris bornofGoddothnotcommit sin;forhisseedremainethinhim:andhe cannotsin,becausehe is bornofGod.10Inthisthe childrenof Godaremanifest,andthe childrenof the devil:whosoeverdoethnotrighteousnessisnotofGod,neitherhe that lovethnothisbrother.
Love One Another

11Forthisisthe messagethatye heardfromthe beginning,thatwe should loveone another.12NotasCain,[who] wasofthat wicked one,andslewhisbrother.Andwhereforeslewhe him?Becausehis ownworkswereevil,andhisbrother'srighteous.
13Marvelnot,mybrethren,ifthe worldhateyou.14We knowthatwehave passedfromdeathuntolife,becausewe lovethe brethren.He that lovethnot[his] brotherabidethindeath.15Whosoeverhatethhisbrotherisa murderer:andye knowthatnomurdererhatheternallifeabidinginhim.16Herebyperceive wethe love[of God], becausehelaid downhislifeforus:andweoughtto lay down[our] livesforthe brethren.17Butwhosohaththis world'sgood,andseethhisbrotherhaveneed,andshutteth uphisbowels[of compassion] fromhim,howdwelleththe loveof Godinhim?18Mylittle children,let usnotlovein word,neitherin tongue;butin deedandin truth.19Andherebywe knowthatwe areofthe truth,andshall assureourheartsbeforehim.20Forifourheartcondemn us,Godisgreaterthan ourheart,andknowethall things.21Beloved,ifourheartcondemnusnot,[then] have weconfidencetowardGod.22Andwhatsoeverwe ask,we receiveofhim,becausewe keephiscommandments,anddothose things that are pleasingin hissight.
23Andthisishiscommandment,Thatwe should believeon the nameof hisSonJesusChrist,andloveone another,ashe gaveuscommandment.24Andhe that keepethhiscommandmentsdwellethinhim,andheinhim.Andherebywe knowthathe abidethinus,bythe Spiritwhichhe hath givenus.
